4x4 EVO 2 (Windows, Mac OS Classic, Mac OS X)/Unused Dialogue

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a sub-page of 4x4 EVO 2 (Windows, Mac OS Classic, Mac OS X).

In addition to containing unused music and lots of unused sound effects, 4x4 EVO 2 has some spoken dialogue that wasn't heard in the final release. If you have TrackEd4 (Terminal Reality's official track creating program for this game), however, you can make custom tracks or clone and modify default ones to enable otherwise unused speech.

Missions

Alaska

File Name Notes
ALASKA1-D1 A set of separate lines for a group of residents complaining, panicking, groaning, whining, and wailing meant for the first Alaska mission, "Village Rescue." Unfortunately, none of them are heard.
ALASKA1-D2
ALASKA1-D3
ALASKA1-D4
ALASKA1-D5
ALASKA1-D6
ALASKA1-D7
ALASKA1-DX A combination of all the dialogue above that was meant to be heard in the first Alaska mission, but it never plays.
ALASKA5-D1 All the spoken dialogue for Wrongway Bates giving commands to his dogs, which were meant for the final Alaska mission, "Animal Rescue." Each line has two different variants as each file that ends with the capital D has the same spoken dialogue, followed by stock sound effects of dogs barking. Like the other set of lines for the "Village Rescue," none of the voice clips play in the actual "Animal Rescue" mission at all.

River Side

File Name Notes
RIVER3-D1B Radio variants of the Chief Ranger's only dialogue heard at the end of the third River Side mission, "Land Survey." The file that ends with an uppercase B is the standalone dialogue, whereas the other one that ends with C features the same exact speech, followed by a stock sound effect of a golf swing. It made sense that both radio variants were cut since the Chief Ranger, although an unseen character (like all other characters in this game), was implied to be actually working at the golf course development site, which is your exact destination.
RIVER3-D1C
RIVER4-D1B A radio variant of Ranger Flanger's only dialogue in "Ranger Rescue," the fourth River Side mission, but like the above, it isn't used.

Racing

Egypt

File Name Notes
LADY-YELL1 The first two voice clips in this group are just panicky, whiny yells of a foreign woman, which aren't used. The last one, on the other hand, is actually a standalone variant of the dialogue played by the same woman where she angrily shouts, "Hey!" which sounds like what you hear if the player crashes into one of the houses in Egypt. The other variant of the same exact dialogue heard in the final release of the game contains a rock impact sound effect simultaneously heard.
