Single DS Play

Dive into action and destroy your foes in two different modes! This mode is for single players, or for play using one DS console. Choose from two ways to play:

Campaign/Story

US Europe
Restore hope to a dying world as you lead your ragtag army through a postapocalyptic wasteland. Enjoy the unfolding story as you do battle. Recommended for first time players to learn the game's rules and controls.
Start a new game in Campaign mode. Start new game in Story mode.

Free Battle

Choose your settings and wage war on one of over 100 maps. Select from over 100 maps to do battle on, adjusting your game settings freely.

Multi-Card Play

Battle it out with two to four players using multiple Nintendo DS systems, or trade your own custom maps. This mode is for 2-4 players using multiple DS consoles. Choose from two options:
[Battle] Take on your friends! Up to four players can battle locally. [Battle] Take on your friends in battle. 2-4 players can join the game.
[Trade Maps] Exchange maps with other players. [Trade Maps] Exchange your maps with other players.

Records

View battle records and medals, listen to music, or reset game data in these modes: Records of your battles are stored here. Choose from three options:
[History] View detailed records of your battle history. You can earn a wide range of medals for various combat actions. [History] View detailed records of your battle history. Depending on how you fight, you can be awarded a range of different medals.
[Music Player] Listen to your favorite music from the game. [Music Player] Listen to your favourite background music from the game.
[Reset All] Restore the entire game to its original settings. Friend codes on your friend roster will not be lost, but this will reset everything else! [Reset All] Restore entire game to its original settings. The Friend Codes from your Friend Roster will not be lost.

Terrains

Terrain Name US Europe
Wasteland This impairs mobility for all but infantry and mech units. Infantry and Bazooka units aside, mobility is impaired on rough terrain.
Wood Woods provide hiding places for ground units in Fog of War. In Fog of War conditions, the woods provide ground unit hiding places.
Ruins Ruins provide hiding places for ground units during Fog of War. In Fog of War conditions, the ruins provide ground unit hiding places.
Road Well-surfaced roads provide optimum mobility, but little cover. Well-surfaced roads provide optimum mobility but little cover.
Mountain In Fog of War, these add 3 to the vision of infantry and mech units. Clear view. In Fog of War, Infantry and Bazooka units' vision +3.
Plain Plains are easily traveled but offer little defense. Ground units move easily on this terrain.
Sea Naval and air forces have good mobility on calm seas. Calm sea. Naval and air forces have good mobility.
HQ Capture the HQ to end a battle. Ground units can resupply here too. Battle ends when an army's HQ is captured. Ground units can resupply.
Factory Once captured, this can be used to produce and resupply ground units. Once captured, can be used for production and resupplying of ground units.
City A populated city. Once captured, ground units can resupply here. Populated city. Once captured ground units can resupply.

Bike/Motorbike An infantry unit with high mobility. They can capture bases. Infantry unit. High mobility. Able to capture bases.
Recon Good movement and vision. They are strong against infantry. Reconnaissance unit. High mobility. Good range of vision.
Flare Flares fire bright rockets that reveal a 13-square area in Fog of War. In Fog of War, can fire flare rocket. Illuminates 2 square area where it lands.
Anti-Air A specialized anti-air unit that can also attack ground forces. Specialised anti-air unit. Can also attack ground forces.
Tank High movement and a low production cost make these units quite useful. Light Tank unit. Good mobility makes it useful on battlefield.
Medium Tank/Heavy Tank A strong tank with better attack and defense than standard tanks. Reinforced Tank. Attack and defence capabilities superior to standard tank.
War Tank/Mega Tank The strongest tank in terms of both attack and defense. Most powerful Tank. Boasts superiative attack and defence capabilities.
Artillery/Mech Gun An indirect attacker. This unit can move or attack during a turn, but not both. Indirect attack unit. Attack cannot be launched after the unit has moved.
Anti-Tank An indirect attacker that can counter-attack when under direct fire. Indirect attack unit. When under direct enemy attack, it can counter-attack.
Rockets A powerful indirect attacker with a wide range. Indirect attack unit. Powerful with a wide attack range.
Missiles An indirect attacker that can only strike airborne targets. Indirect attack unit. Only capable of striking air targets.
Rig/Mob. Wrkshp. Carries 1 infantry or mech unit. Can also supply units and build temp airports/ports. Carries X1 Infantry or Bazooka, supplies units and builds Airports and Ports.
