Hmmm...
To do:
You can decompile the IEF files using the disney ief script here.

The game's sound files are in the .aif format. Importing them as raw audio in Audacity and slowing them down by 50% or 75% will give you the original audio. Many extra sound files were added to the later release.

Additionally, there's a later version, see if there are any version differences exclusive to Arthur's Wilderness Rescue. There's an even later version on the Zoom platform (no relation to the Zoom meeting platform).

Arthur's Camping Adventure, or Arthur's Wilderness Rescue, is an Arthur point-and-click game about exploring to get help on a field trip gone wrong.

Unused Text

Multiple times in the executable (Arthur.exe) is text that references

G:\BarneySource\IE_Engine\IEIF.cpp

It's safe to say that a Barney game was being worked on by the same developers at the same time, or it uses the same engine as a Barney game.

Revisional Differences

  • Wilderness Rescue comes with a PDF User's Guide, while Camping Adventure does not.
  • Wilderness Rescue v.1.1 has a different credits roll.
