Beyond Good & Evil is an action-adventure that follows Jade, an investigative reporter and martial artist, and her allies. The player controls Jade and allies, solving puzzles, fighting enemies, and obtaining photographic evidence.
Michel Ancel, creator of the Rayman series and this game, envisioned it as the first part of a trilogy. This ultimately didn't pan out, and likely never will since Ancel quit game development altogether in 2020.

Unused Objects/Models
Some unused objects can be accessed through cheating.
Carlson-Peeters
The book ported by Double H is a fixed object that you can't use, transfer, or access the description of. If you try to access to the item description through cheating, you can see a very basic and unused model of a book, and no text for the description.
Unused Object 1
This object has no icon, name, or description text. Its model is similar to a taser.
Unused Object 2
This object has no icon, name, or description text. It has two different animated textures.
Unused Music
An alternate version of the Akuda Bar music.
Unused Sounds
To do: There might be more unused sounds, but it's hard to know without mistakes. |
Gunshot Sound
A cartoony gunshot sound with it audibly hitting a can. Possibly an early checkpoint/new lap sound for races.
Longer Spanish Samples
Some of the samples from the Spanish dialogues are cut off in-game. Listening to the audio files makes it obvious why they did this, as they contain very loud sounds of the voice actors turning a page over.
Unused Videos
To do: Actually upload these videos for comparison, if warranted? |
There's an unused propaganda video with an early General Kehck model.

There's also a pre-rendered video with one of the ending cutscenes. The video is shorter than the cutscene, and it has some differences from the final cutscene.
Unused Textures
To do:
|
Crab Creature
Textures for a crab-like creature seen in at least one pre-release screenshot. These textures are loaded in when at Mamma-Go, implying it may have been present there at some point. It's also possible that the creature is present somewhere in the map, albeit off screen and unreachable.
Unused Code Functions
Infinite Items
If you set the quantity of any item, such as turbo, to an extremely high value via cheating, the item counter will disappear from the HUD, and every time you use the item its quantity value won't decrease. None of this functionality is ever used in normal gameplay, and seems to be unfinished as the quantity value still decreases when you transfer the item to your partner.
Command Line BIG File Path
On the Windows version, you can specify the path and name of the BIG packed file with the game resources passing it as parameter on the command line. If no parameter is passed, it defaults to BGE.exe /B sally_clean.bf.
Unused Levels
Factory Pipe
The 'Factory Pipe' was a unused level in the game. The team left the level behind and is unfinished, multiple parts of the envoirment are missing from the stage. The pipe would of been used to enter and leave the Nutripils Factory (The 2nd Dungeon) all of it left is a video by BGEMyth and some pictures https://www.youtube.com/embed/eH8rVEVZxJk, Here is the video. Entirely Scrapped Scripts
Beyond Good and Evil has a bit of unused scripts for the game, with different stories from the final game.
Insecticide Gang
According to the BG&E Wiki, there was a version of the game where Jade was named Sally and had a brother named Toy'l, and Pey'j wasnt Sallys uncle. Instead, Pey'j was just a pig. The 3 were apart of a 'Alien Busting group' named the "Insecticide Gang" and they used bug-like helmets to communicate to Pey'j, but ofcourse the idea was scrapped and Sally was renamed to Jade due to Sally sounding to unfitting for a girl like herself, and Toy'l was used for a differnet script and his model was used for Nino. (Full credit to any person who documented these things down)
Beta Script
This script was nearly, almost, exact to the final game but with many differances. Instead of the DomZ, it was a different alien race sieging hillys, a alien race named the Nazh were the ones who replaced the DomZ. Jade looks very different from now and Toy'l was no longer Jades brother, but instead someone comepletly different, the Iris Network wasnt named what it was not yet anyways, it was oringinally named the SPOON Network, these are some of the differances from this script and the final, read this script here: https://beyondgoodandevil.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:ZyLogic/The_original_Beyond_Good_%26_Evil_script (Full credit to those who documented these things down)
