See, this is why game preservation is important.
This game is defunct.
Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down (as of April 30, 2022). As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen.
Hmmm...
To do:
  • Version differences
    • In an update, the towers(like the monkey buccaneer) on the title screen were made bigger.
This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Bloons TD Battles is another spinoff of a spinoff of the Bloons series that takes an interesting approach with Bloons TD 5's gameplay, combining tower defense with player vs player combat. The monkeys also finally use bloons for something other than popping them(Sorry Hot Air Bloon). May the opposer be deflated!

A mobile version was released on July 18, 2013, which became significantly more popular than this version.

Unused Graphics

My Profile Screen

Early Final
BTDB-ProfileOld.png ProfileBTDB.png

A very unfinished profile screen can be found in the files, with a close button next to it. It seems this game was originally going to have a profile screen similar to its mobile counterpart, where it showed info of the player(ranks, total games, achievements, etc). But the final game uses the Ninja Kiwi account system for this instead.

Despite being unused, it was changed in the game's redesign update.

Hidden A-Game Graphic

A-GamePlaceA.png A-GamePlaceB.png

The map A-Game has crudely drawn words off-screen, seemingly saying "left top" and "right top".

Small Explosion Graphic

BTDB-SmallExplosion.gif

This graphic is a leftover from BTD5 for the Splodey Darts premium upgrade, but it was also used for BTD5 Deluxe with the Sentry expiring animation.

Turbo Charge

Like Bloons Monkey City and Bloons TD 5, the Boomerang Thrower has unique art for its Turbo Charge upgrade. Despite existing in the files since launch, these graphics have gone completely unused, as, for unknown reasons, this upgrade instead uses the same graphics as the Bionic Boomer. These were later restored in BTD5 Deluxe, however.

Sandbox Icons

Icons from the Sandbox Mode in Bloons TD 5. They are used for Bloon sends, but no Sandbox Mode exists for this game, and these graphics are in their BTD5 sandbox mode positions. A Sandbox Mode was added in an update for the mobile version, exclusive to Club members.

Match Options Panel

Early Final
BTDB-MatchOptionsOld.png BTDB-MatchOptions.png

A panel under the battle screen for match options. What options you could've selected is unknown, but like the "My Profile" graphic, it got updated in the redesign despite being unused.

Tower Locked Button

A Dart Monkey for reference The "lock_mc" graphic is a file used in Bloons TD 5 Flash when a tower is not yet unlocked. This is unused in this game because towers locked are not shown in-game.

Unused Code

The Bloonchipper and Monkey Engineer appear yet again as leftovers from an early Bloons TD 5 Deluxe version. Only projectiles and functions appear to exist this time.

Monkey Engineer

var _loc12_:ProjectileDef = new ProjectileDef().Display(Nail).Pierce(3).DamageEffect(new DamageEffectDef().Damage(1).CantBreak(Vector.<int>([Bloon.const_3])).CanBreakIce(false));
         var _loc13_:ProjectileDef = new ProjectileDef().Display(Nail).Pierce(8).DamageEffect(new DamageEffectDef().Damage(1).CantBreak(Vector.<int>([Bloon.const_3])).CanBreakIce(false));
         var _loc14_:ProjectileDef = new ProjectileDef().Display(FoamSplat).Pierce(int.MAX_VALUE).Radius(15).RemoveCamo(true).RemoveRegen(true).EffectMask(Vector.<int>([Bloon.const_1])).DamageEffect(new DamageEffectDef().Damage(1).CantBreak(Vector.<int>([Bloon.const_43,Bloon.const_31,Bloon.const_36,Bloon.const_42,Bloon.const_19,Bloon.const_6,Bloon.const_15,Bloon.const_5,Bloon.const_16,Bloon.const_11,Bloon.MOAB,Bloon.BFB,Bloon.const_13])).CanBreakIce(false)).Behavior(new projectiles.behavior.BehaviorDef().RoundOver(new RoundOverDestroy()).Process(new Friction()).Destroy(new RemoveSpikeSpread()));
  • Exactly the same stats as the one found in Bloons TD 5.

Bloonchipper

  • No weapons for the Bloonchipper appear to exist, though files such as BloonchipperStore and BloonchipperStoreModDef do exist, which control how the Bloonchipper attacks. They are identical to the files of the same name in Bloons TD 5 Deluxe, but are less complete.

Kongregate

The game has files implying that it was once going to appear on Kongregate, a flash game platform. Bloons TD 5 and Bloons Monkey City are on Kongregate, so why BTD Battles isn't is a mystery. Files include a gateway(Kong_Gateway), the login system(Kong_LoginSystem), and the store(Kong_Store). This game also refers to kongregate.com as a sitelock like the regular sitelock, ninjakiwi.com

There is even a Kongregate API key for the game!:9d339ab4-e3ce-468e-bcf0-0003d09b9cd6

Placeholder for buying things for medallions...which was changed in later versions for some reason.

Oddities

  • The sending bloons button is internally called the noobbutton.
