Area 1: Woods of Esuram

Groog Hills

End level score: 6000 (5500 in Japanese version)

  • No bomb powerup next to tree at the start of the stage.
  • Two blue gems to the right of the bull at the start instead of two pink gems.
    • The right of these two gems is moved slightly back to align it with the other.
  • Bomb powerup behind and to the right of these two gems instead of a firepower.
Pull out your magnifying glass. Groog Hills has many changes like this.
Japanese English
BHero Groog Hills JP 1.png BHero Groog Hills EN 1.png
  • Two pink gems and a gold gem were added above the first lake (when the stage freezes over they come down, in the Japanese version these three gems do exist but are only present when the stage freezes).
It seems odd, but these can be reached with a water damage boost.
Japanese English
BHero Groog Hills JP 2.png BHero Groog Hills EN 2.png
  • A Blue gem above the second mushroom was moved slightly forward and to the right, centering it.
Changes like these might make one wonder if the Japanese version was rushed.
Japanese English
BHero Groog Hills JP 3.png BHero Groog Hills EN 3.png
  • A Blue gem was added above the box before the warp.
  • A Box was added around the heart past the warp.
  • A Firepower on the small island area instead of a gold heart.
  • All of the items on the second lake have been moved significantly up (again, they descend when the stage freezes. these ones are always present in the Japanese version, however).
The blue gem above the box can be seen behind the health bars.
Japanese English
BHero Groog Hills JP 4.png BHero Groog Hills EN 4.png
  • A Blue gem at the far right of the stage instead of a pink gem.
  • A Blue gem above the mushroom to the right of the exit instead of a heart.
    • The blue gem is higher than where the heart was, as well.
A rather standard change.
Japanese English
BHero Groog Hills JP 5.png BHero Groog Hills EN 5.png
  • A heart in front of the exit instead of a 1-up.
  • Freezing the stage causes the items above the lake to descend. Almost all of the items are positioned differently, with a general rule that they are all raised higher.
    • The heart is more forward than it was as a 1-up.
    • The rightmost blue gem in front of the exit is moved back a tiny bit.
    • The leftmost blue gem on the second lake is moved forward a bit.
    • The second blue gem in this series is moved left a bit.
    • The third blue gem in this series is moved left and back a bit.
    • The gold gem was moved right a bit.
    • The second pink gem was moved left a bit.
    • The gold gem and two pink gems above the first lake are moved left a bit.

Most players would never even notice these alignment issues.

Japanese English

BHero Groog Hills JP 8.png BHero Groog Hills EN 8.png
  • Multiple new bulls are added when the stage freezes over.
    • A bull was added to the front of the exit.
    • To the right of the exit, next to the mushrooms.
    • To the left of the exit, on the frozen lake.
    • To the left of the three blue gems on the second lake.
    • To the right of three gems on the first lake.
    • To the left of three gems on the first lake.
    • To the far left of the stage, where Bomberman spawns in.
    • To the left of where the two blue gems at the start are (in the same spot the bull is at before the stage is frozen).
    • No bull behind and to the left of the first lake.

All of the new bulls.

Bubble Hole

End level score: 7000 (6000 in Japanese version)

  • A yellow slime was added to the start.
A simple, yet aesthetically pleasing addition.
Japanese English
BHero Bubble Hole JP 1.png BHero Bubble Hole EN 1.png
  • Two bumps on the sides of the stage were raised upward.
Climbing these is a bit buggy, so they were made less accessible.
Japanese English
BHero Bubble Hole JP 4.png BHero Bubble Hole EN 4.png
  • A gold gem above the bounce pad after the bubbles instead of a gold heart.
    • The gold gem is also higher up than the gold heart was.
  • A blue gem above the blue slime on the floating platform instead of a heart.
  • A heart on the right upper platform in the floating platform area instead of a 1-up.
At the top right, the bottom of the new heart can be seen.
Japanese English
BHero Bubble Hole JP 2.png BHero Bubble Hole EN 2.png
  • No pink gem on the left before the big bounce pad area at the end.
  • A Blue gem on the right before the big bounce pad area instead of a safety vest.
  • A safety vest above the bounce pads instead of a blue gem.
    • Safety vest is also higher up and a bit more forward than the blue gem was.
  • A blue gem on the right on the big bounce pad area was moved left significantly.
  • A blue gem on the left on the big bounce pad area was moved right a bit.
How did this even happen?
Japanese English
BHero Bubble Hole JP 3.png BHero Bubble Hole EN 3.png

Erars Lake

End level score: 6500 (4000 in Japanese version)

  • A soft block pass item in the path to the Waterway exit was moved from next to the left wall to inside the first bubble hole.
The item is almost entirely out of harm's way in the Japanese version.
Japanese English
BHero Erars Lake JP 1.png BHero Erars Lake EN 1.png
  • Some spike bomb enemies were added to the sides of the manta enemy at the end of the path to the Waterslider.
  • All of the red objects spanning the width of the Waterslider path were changed to be less flat in appearance.
Clearly a better shape for whatever these objects are supposed to be.
Japanese English
BHero Erars Lake JP 2.png BHero Erars Lake EN 2.png

Waterway

End level score: 4000 (3500 in Japanese version)

  • Only two gems stacked vertically inside the falling water stream instead of three.
    • Gems are moved to the right slightly, as well.
A case of repositioning and repurposing points for the end level score.
Japanese English
BHero Waterway JP 1.png BHero Waterway EN 1.png
  • Laser spikes were added to the left of the pit.
  • A gold gem inside of a box near the pit instead of a 1-up.
Box totally annihilated to show its contents.
Japanese English
BHero Waterway JP 2.png BHero Waterway EN 2.png
  • Laser spikes were added to the right of the pit, at the lower end of the slope.
  • A blue gem was added to the left of the water stream before the second pit.
  • Only two blue gems on the upper platform instead of two.
Waterway is just one of many stages to get the laser spike treatment.
Japanese English
BHero Waterway JP 3.png BHero Waterway EN 3.png
  • A top hat enemy was added to the area after the second pit.
  • No heart on the platform to the right of the warp.
  • No dancing man on the platform to the right of the warp.
  • Laser spikes were added to the wall above the platform to the right of the warp.
The platform is the perfect size for laser spikes. It was begging for them.
Japanese English
BHero Waterway JP 4.png BHero Waterway EN 4.png

Waterslider

End level score: 4000 (3500 in Japanese version)

  • A bomb powerup next to the red neck enemy was raised slightly.
  • A turret enemy on the floating platform instead of a blue gem.
The bomb powerup was likely raised to give all pickups a uniform height.
Japanese English
BHero Waterslider JP 1.png BHero Waterslider EN 1.png
  • Only one blue gem to the left of the pink gem on the slide instead of two.
  • A spring enemy was added to the left of the Adok Bomb.
This makes the 3-4-3 sequence of gems on the slide 3-3-3 instead.
Japanese English
BHero Waterslider JP 2.png BHero Waterslider EN 2.png
  • No blue gem to the left of the gold gem at the top of the slide.
  • A blue gem was added to the pillar with water flowing out of its sides.
Many interesting spots are empty in Japanese, but not overseas.
Japanese English
BHero Waterslider JP 3.png BHero Waterslider EN 3.png
  • A turret enemy was added to the left of the vertical moving platform.
  • No 1-up at the far right of the stage.
This localized spot seems strangely barren, however.
Japanese English
BHero Waterslider JP 4.png BHero Waterslider EN 4.png

Area 2: Primus Castle

Rock'n Road

End level score: 3000 (2500 in Japanese version)

  • No firepower in the first hole.
  • A bomb powerup in the third hole instead of a heart.
Yes, there's a firepower in that hole.
Japanese English
BHero Rock N Road JP 1.png BHero Rock N Road EN 1.png
  • A Heart on the first suspended platform instead of a gold heart.
  • A gold gem on the second suspended platform was moved left slightly.
This makes the gold gem the same distance from the wall as the heart.
Japanese English
BHero Rock N Road JP 2.png BHero Rock N Road EN 2.png
  • A blue gem on the third suspended platform instead of a pink gem.
  • No gold gem on the left side of the end of the first part of the stage.
  • A gold gem is above the teleporter instead of a blue gem.
This teleporter is a one-way trip, so missing the gem is made worse.
Japanese English
BHero Rock N Road JP 3.png BHero Rock N Road EN 3.png
  • A blue gem was added above the first gas vent.
  • A big bomb was added between the gas vents.
  • A firepower was added to the left of the door enemy at the end of the stage.
  • The door enemy takes five hits instead of three.
Just the typical changes to give the player more things to do and avoid.
Japanese English
BHero Rock N Road JP 4.png BHero Rock N Road EN 4.png

Water Pool

End level score: 4500 (4500 in Japanese)

  • Three blue gems are on the first high up pipe instead of two blue gems and a pink gem.
Many pink gems are turned into blues if they are in a sequence of gems.
Japanese English
BHero Water Pool JP 1.png BHero Water Pool EN 1.png
  • A blue gem was added above the rightmost gas vent near the exit to Millian Road.
An uncharacteristically askew addition.
Japanese English
BHero Water Pool JP 2.png BHero Water Pool EN 2.png

Millian Road

End level score: 5000 (3000 in Japanese version)

  • The three items at the beginning are moved forward a bit.
  • A heart at the beginning was moved to the left a bit.
Millian Road is yet another stage drastically changed.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 1.png BHero Millian Road EN 1.png
  • Blue balls at the start aligned and spaced farther apart.
Millian Road is also another stage with multiple alignment fixes.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 2.png BHero Millian Road EN 2.png
  • A pair of laser balls beyond the first central pillar instead of six knives.
This addition gives the stage a more diverse set of obstacles.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 3.png BHero Millian Road EN 3.png
  • A vertical spike pillar was added before the window light beams.
Changes like these leave the stage more lively and less barren.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 4.png BHero Millian Road EN 4.png
  • A firepower to the left of the second central pillar instead of a heart.
Continuing the trends of removing hearts and adding firepower.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 5.png BHero Millian Road EN 5.png
  • A heart before the four knives instead of a golden heart.
Again, the typical changes.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 6.png BHero Millian Road EN 6.png
  • Two blue balls were added above the three before the final stretch.
    • The lower balls are repositioned, as well.
A more pleasing change in appearance, this also ups the challenge.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 7.png BHero Millian Road EN 7.png
  • Two blue balls were added to the right of the last vertical spike pillar.
    • The balls on the left are repositioned, as well.
The sideways pillar already threatens this space, but it does look nicer.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 8.png BHero Millian Road EN 8.png
  • A blue ball above the turret miniboss was moved to the right slightly, centering it.
Honestly just egregious.
Japanese English
BHero Millian Road JP 9.png BHero Millian Road EN 9.png
