This game was never completed and/or given a public release.

Call of Duty: Future Warfare was Neversoft's first go at a Call of Duty title after years of non-stop Guitar Hero, and judging by the fact it was canned, Activision probably didn't like how it turned out.

With multiple builds dated from November 30, 2011 to January 8, 2012, we get to explore an incredibly rare glimpse into a potential future direction for the franchise that was ultimately shelved. The game features a mix of traditional warfare and futuristic elements, with missions ranging from Earth-based operations to battles on the Moon. Some of the content from this title seems to have influenced later titles such as Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, and Ghosts.

This cancelled game used Modern Warfare 2 as a base, and as such, used many assets from it as placeholders, down to the HUD.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document what we know of the game's story from the missions and leftover dialogue. Characters, plots, etc.
  • We've documented all of the previously inaccessible missions except for Winter Anvil (nx_rocket), which still needs to be documented.
  • Voicelines from cut MW2 missions are present (RESCUE, TULSA) and need to be documented.
  • Fastfiles are finally being datamined, which means that any oddities should be documented in their relevant subpages or here.
  • Escort mode maps.

Sub-Pages

Blank.png
Singleplayer Missions
All of the missions planned to be part of the campaign. And lots of work-in-progress missions and test maps.
Blank.png
Multiplayer Maps
A lot of unfinished, cut, and missing multiplayer maps. Some even have Easter eggs.
Blank.png
Story
An attempt to make heads and tails of the game's plot beats.

MW2 Leftovers
A metric fuck-ton of MW2 assets are left over, including entirely new, never-before-seen missions and dialogue that was cut from the final release.

Executables

Future Warfare's first "release" contains several executables, including one that was pre-patched presumably to work with emulators. If using Xenia Canary, most of these executables require "protect_zero" to be set to false in config for them to run.

Build dates are taken directly from the executable .map files, with dates re-ordered for readability.
