Sega's first attempt at a handheld, the Game Gear was effectively a modified Master System spec-wise (to the point where Master System carts could be played on it with the Master Gear Converter), and could even turn into a portable television with the TV Tuner. This meant that while it was more powerful (and colorful!) than the Game Boy, it also ate through batteries like nothing on Earth ever had before.

Also known as the Handy Gam*Boy in South Korea and Kid's Gear for its final year or so in Japan.
