Another Wii U game jumps ship to the Switch, that being the overly-long-named New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. The Wii Shop Channel, after 12 years, is finally canned on January 30. Kingdom Hearts III is finally released 13 years and 7 days after Kingdom Hearts II, but any statements of the release timing being intentional is totally just a pure coincidence. Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled makes its way to consoles with rave reviews in tow only to add microtransactions post-launch, a surprise which went down as well as one might expect (not very). Pokémon Sword and Shield makes Pokémon gigantic (literally!), but culled many of the Pokémon that were present in the previous games, much to the ire of fans. Some indie flicks like Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling and Pizza Game also released that year.
