Doodle Champion Island Games is by far the biggest and most ambitious Google Doodle thus far. The player roams around an island competing in various sports against mythological figures to collect special scrolls, and there's also a number of sidequests to do.

The game's music was composed by Qumu, a musician who primarily makes remixes of various video game tunes.

At some point, the Daruma was slightly touched up.

The game officially has seven revisions, with the last being the most notable for being pushed out at the opening of the Paralympics. This version includes:

  • Golden portraits shown at the trophy stands, when the player beats an event.
  • Adjusted scoring for Rugby, capping the max score at 1,000 points.
  • Harder difficulties for Archery and Rugby.
  • Two additional sidequests.
  • A proper ending.
