Hmmm...
To do:
Pretty much every NPC has a panic and cheering animation, but from experience a few of them actually use these animations. Find the ones which aren't used and add them here. Can we replace the framerips on this page with animated gifs?

In Drawn To Life: The Next Chapter, Wilfre strikes back. Only this time, with a shocking conclusion.

Unused Graphics

Drawn to Life Leftovers

Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

Mayor

The Mayor has many animations that are leftover from Drawn to Life.

Wilfre

All of the animations of Wilfre's normal form are in the game, however go unused in this game due to no scene utilizing them.

Throwing Animations

Some characters, such as Farmer Brown and Chef Cookie, have throwing animations that match up to the ones used during the snowball fight minigame in the first game. Two of the Raposa children who appear in the Lavasteam also have throwing animations. This is likely because said Raposa are simply recoloured variants of the generic Rapogirl and Rapoboy that appeared in the first game.

Unique to The Next Chapter

Mike/Robosa Hybrid (?)

Dtl tnc Mikeosa panic.pngDtl tnc Mikeosa cheer.png

A bizarre character whose design consists of a Robosa's head on Mike's body. Only has panicking and cheering animations.

Moe

Has a panicking animation where he wears Mike's clothes. This actually can be seen in a single scene of the game. This was likely a placeholder that never got around to being replaced.

Crazy Diggz

Crazy Diggz has panicking and cheering animations, and guess what? He's also wearing Mike's clothes. Perhaps Mike's animations were used as placeholders during development?

Key

Dtl tnc Key.png

Key has some frames which are very obviously unfinished. Guess whose wardrobe was raided.

Wilfre

Dtl tnc Wilfre panic.png"Cheering". I use that term loosely.

Even though all of his sprites were carried over from the first game and not used, Wilfre's normal form got two new animations that are just as unused.

Salem

Dtl tnc Salem panic.pngDtl tnc Salem happy.png

There are two animations for Salem, one showing him panicking and the other showing him happy.

Unused NPCs

Dtl tnc lambert.pngDtl tnc fiora.png

Two unused NPC Raposa found between the Watersong NPCs and Galactic Jungle NPCs. Judging from their attire, they were meant to have been encountered somewhere in Watersong. The male NPC has animations for standing idle in all four directions, moving, cheering, and panicking. Ditto for the female NPC, except she lacks a panic animation.

Pilot Bird

Dtl tnc Pilot Bird unused.png

The pilot bird enemy from the first level of Watersong has two unused sprites. One of the sprites is uncoloured, and both look unfinished.

Baki

The jumping Baki has an animation of it transforming back into its first form.

Temp Xylophone

Dtl tnc tempbutton.png

A xylophone piece with "Temp" written on it that comes in several colors.

Surfboard

Dtl tnc tempboard.png

A surfboard with "Temp" written on it.

Pier

Dtl tnc Pier.png

A strange, crudely-drawn object with "Pier" written on it. Perhaps it was a placeholder graphic?

Unused Dialogue

HERE, (HERONAME). I MADE YOU A FWOWER BWACEWET.
I WOVE TO WATCH THE WAVES HERE, BUT I MISS MY BED AT HOME.

Two strings of dialogue meant for Cindi while on Turtle Rock. In the final release, she will always default to her "hide and seek" exchange, leaving these unused.

Development-Related Text

TEST!
TEXT GOES HERE

Located with the Turtlerock dialogue.

HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF A VERY LONG CHAT BOX.
THIS CHAT BOX IS SO LONG THAT
EVENTUALLY IT MUST WRAP.
WHEN IT WRAPS
WE WILL RUN INTO A PROBLEM WHERE THE
GAME WILL FREEZE AND WE WILL NOT BE
ABLE TO PROGRESS.....
CLOCKTOWER HAS BEEN REMOVED
 FROM THIS BUILD

Found alongside the Lavasteam dialogue. Since there is a clock tower present in both the first Drawn to Life game and in The Next Chapter, it is unknown which clock tower the text refers to.

Unused Names

There are two names in the character name table that do not correspond with any characters seen in the final game. These are Monocle and Mildew. The placement of Monocle's name suggest they were intended to have been encountered in Watersong, while Mildew was intended for Lavasteam. Oddly, Mildew's name is listed twice, once between Mari and Miney, and again between Ellen and Russet. Mildew does exist as concept art in The Art of 5thCell, and appears in the sequel Two Realms.

In addition, Pirate Beard, Farmer Brown, Crazy Barks and Crazy Diggz all have unused entries in the character name table without spaces in their name (e.g. Pirate Beard = PIRATEBEARD), as well as (used) entries with spaces in their names.

Ending

1.0 1.1

A version 1.1 of The Next Chapter exists, which alters the ending montage. This revision is also the one used for the Drawn to Life: Collection. In the original version of The Next Chapter, it was revealed Mike had fallen into a coma following a car crash and that the Raposa world was a figment of his imagination, but in the altered ending, he falls out of a tree instead. The art style used in the altered ending is also less realistic. It is likely this ending was changed to make the game more child-friendly.
