Exciting Soccer is one of the earliest soccer games influential towards the genre in Japan, whether it is exciting or not is debatable.

The roster varies depending on the region. For the US release, Austria was replaced by USA and the Japanese version not only had the same change as the US but also replaced Italy with Japan.
