Gears of War Ultimate Edition is the first game to be made by The Coalition, the new developer of the Gears of War series. A remaster of Gears of War 1 featuring new stuff such as better graphics, laggy multiplayer, three added Gears of War 2 DLC multiplayer maps, levels from the Games for Windows Live version of Gears 1, gnasher with terrible hit detection in multiplayer, and much more.

Unused weapon skin

The Microsoft Studios weapon skin set goes unused in this game but looks no different than how it appeared in Gears of War 4.

Unused Legacy Pawns

Several legacy "pawns" from the original Gears 1 are leftover in this remaster: Marcus, Dom, Cole, Mihn Young Kim, Locust Drone, Locust Grenadier, Locust Theron Guard, Locust Theron Elite, and Locust General Raam.

Oddities

Locust Sniper MP Internal Name

In some text strings the Locust Sniper in multiplayer is referred to as "Locust Troika Gunner", presumably a leftover from an early build of Gears 1.

Ring-Based Modes on BOXES

The map BOXES is selectable in private matches, however if played in a ring-based gametype, no rings will spawn making the match uncompletable.

Dark and Crimson Omen skins

Before 2020, completing all three Gears campaigns on Xbox 360 would grant you these two skins, however after 2020 this stopped happening presumably due to issues with the servers reading profile data.

Xbox Series X graphical bug

When playing on Xbox Series X, the resolution will repeatedly go blurry, then normal, then blurry again. It is unknown why this happened.
