...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Hmmm...
To do:
Images/videos of the 2.1 Editor? There's definitely more 2.1 stuff, someone should find them. Also, try to add more of the early Chamber of Time.

Geometry Dash World is another free version of Geometry Dash, but has unused 2.1 features.

Unused Graphics

The Lost Gauntlets

GDWorldGauntletSheet.png

This part of the game doesn't load if hacked into, and this image is never seen in normal gameplay. This area also requires the full version of 2.1. While the gauntlets shown here are in official Geometry Dash game. The locked variations go unused

FPS Images

GDW FPS Images.png

There is no way to view FPS in this game. There's also no accompanying plist or .fnt file for this, so it's safe to say that this is an unused font for what would have been a debug function.

Chat Font

GDW Chat Font.png

This one actually has a .fnt file to go with it, so that's a plus. In Geometry Dash 2.11, this is used in the comments, but previous versions used the Arial font included with the game.

Unused Areas

Fingerdash

GD World also contains Geometry Dash Update 2.1's new level, Fingerdash. What makes this interesting is that the update wasn't out and cannot be accessed in GD World without modding the game itself. Interesting parts: After the 1:00 mark, the level becomes noticeably partially decorated. After 1:08 the level becomes a layout with some decoration, like lava. At 1:17, the level loses all decoration.

If you want to do this, extract the apk to get the folder assets. Open LevelData.plist and copy line 46 (starts with <string>H4sIA...) and go into LevelDataWorld.plist and paste that line to any line that starts with <string>... You may want to do this with the first one, that's the first level. Save the file and compile the apk. Make sure you sign it. Install the apk (you may have to delete the old apk.) Play the level you copied the string to, it should load Fingerdash.

2.1/2.2 Editor

When the game was released, people were able to load their save data from Geometry Dash (full version) from the cloud. This allowed access to their saved levels from Geometry Dash. While copying levels was disabled, copying your own levels wasn't, and you could go into the editor after copying your levels. This allowed people to see features of 2.1, like the spider. Eventually, this was patched temporarily until 2.1 released. However, later on, 2.2 features were accidentally added to the editor, letting players play with some of the new triggers.

Meltdown Levels?

In the game's files, there exists a LevelDataMeltdown.plist that contains three IDs. This file is in fact the exact same copy that is found in Geometry Dash Meltdown.

Chamber of Time

Music Track

SecretLoop03

In-game, the secret loops are used for vaults. Along with the other unused images, this would make some sense.

The Chamber of Time is unused in this game, but it's almost done. However, some of the text uses placeholders, like some triggers. It turns out 2.1 was rushed!

Dialog Icons

The Basement

Dialog Icons

GDW DialogIcon 004.png GDW DialogIcon 004-hd.png

GDW DialogIcon 016.png GDW DialogIcon 016-hd.png

GDW DialogIcon 017.png GDW DialogIcon 017-hd.png

GDW DialogIcon 018.png GDW DialogIcon 018-hd.png

There are unused vault dialog icons. In the final game, all of them are used for the basement.

Oddities

Official Music Tracks

While you can go through the game without ever noticing this, all of the music tracks from Geometry Dash are 2/3s of the way in the game. Pulse data and info for each song exists, but the song .mp3 doesn't. This is noticeable in Kamijo's levels, which were made before 1.9, which added custom music into the game. This includes Fingerdash.
