This page details a post release build of Gran Turismo 5.

GT Academy 2012 is a digital-only post release build of Gran Turismo 5 released exclusively to the PlayStation Store on May 1st, 2012. The title was made available starting from its release date but has long since expired, rendering it no longer playable unless modifications or hacking is used.

This title was used in conjunction with the GT Academy 2012 competition that was ongoing at the time. Compiled on April 12th, 2012, this build would serve as the basis for what would become Version 2.06 of Gran Turismo 5. While this build is no longer playable unless modifications and/or hacking is used, there is some unused content that can be found inside its files.

Cars

There are 14 playable cars inside the build.

Eight cars were used for the build's events:

  • Nissan GT-R Black edition (GT Academy Version) '12
  • Nissan GT-R Black edition Tuned Car (GT Academy Version) '12
  • Nissan Leaf G (GT Academy Version) '11
  • Nissan SILVIA spec-R AERO (GT Academy Version) '02
  • Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V・spec II (GT Academy Version) '94
  • Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V・spec II Nür (GT Academy Version) '02

Five cars were not used in this build but are also found in Gran Turismo 5:

  • Nissan XANAVI NISMO GT-R (SUPER GT) '08
  • Nissan Calsonic IMPUL GT-R (SUPER GT) '08
  • Nissan YellowHat YMS TOMICA GT-R (SUPER GT) '08
  • Nissan MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (SUPER GT) '08
  • Nissan WOODONE ADVAN Clarion GT-R (SUPER GT) '08

The last car on this list is the Nissan SKYLINE Coupe 370GT (GT Academy Version) '07, which is unique in the fact that it is unused in both this build and Gran Turismo 5, making it exclusive to this build. Assets for it remain in the game's files and it is fully registered in the database, meaning it is playable but unused.
