Harvest Moon 64 is the second entry in the series and the entry that broke ground for the franchise. This game features a less linear view with 3D graphics and prerendered sprites.

Hmmm...
To do:
The entire game is uncompressed, but I can't seem to find the palettes.
  • Regional differences.
    • The Japanese version of the game has a farm completion screen on the file select menu which displays how far the player has completed the game. The menu is still in the North American ROM and is fully translated.
    • The Japanese version contains a fourth TV channel which was replaced with static in the international versions.
  • Extract both the Japanese and English texts.
  • Check for unused maps using this code.

Unused Graphics

Harvest Moon 64-Princess Vanilla.png

Sprites for Princess Vanilla, who is never seen during gameplay. Her sprites can be seen in the Japanese ROM at 0x5CECA8.

HARVESTMOON64-BottomArea-Doodle.png

A couple of the floor tiles in the opening cutscene have "bottom-left" and "bottom-right" etched within their textures.

HARVESTMOON64-UnusedPortraits-UnknownChild.png

Unused portraits of an unknown childlike character. Bears a resemblance to a type of Japanese yokai known as Amefurikozō. The portraits can be found in the Japanese ROM at 0xDB68E2.

Unused Perspective Camera

Harvest Moon 64 takes place with an isometric orthographic view of the world. However, it is possible to activate a view with perspective correction. With the US version, use the cheat 801F7004 0001. Note this will make most UI elements unreadable.
