Hell is an FMV-heavy cyberpunk game from the '90s, or so the saying goes.

Developer Messages

The Comments field of the CD's Get Info window reads:

Hi mom!

Additionally, the resource pton 92 is a message formatted for ResEdit's hex editor.

Dei sub
numine
viget!

This is the Latin motto of Princeton University ("Under God's power she flourishes"). Macintosh Hell programmer Christina Schulman obtained her BA in Computer Science from Princeton in '92.

This dialog likely accepts the area names found in STR# 133 ("Map List"), but there's no known way to activate it.

Icons

The Hell application contains a large number of unused Finder icons. Sorting them by the order they appear in the file, rather than by their resource IDs, lets us follow the creative process through three different themes.

First Generation

Second Generation

Final Generation

Icon 134 is the only one from this phase that didn't end up used, but its binary theme was incorporated into icon 137.

The instances of icons 144 and 142 left in the game application aren't actually used; identical copies appear in the relevant locations.
