Hello Kitty World is a reskinned port of the Game Boy game Balloon Kid (which had itself been released as Balloon Fight GB via Nintendo Power kiosks in Japan), itself a sequel to the Famicom's Balloon Fight.

Notably, the game does not have the Balloon Trip mode featured in its predecessors, nor does it credit Nintendo (though the "Mario Co,Ltd" listed on the title screen is probably an indirect nod).

Unused Music

Hmmm...
To do:
Rip these from the game via emulator or external software.

Perhaps not surprisingly, a few of these are Balloon Kid tracks reworked for the Famicom.

  • The factory/Stage 8 music, with a short recurring song element from Balloon Kid at the beginning which was not present in the original. Hello Kitty World instead uses the more cheerful Stage 1 music for Stage 8.
  • The intro sequence from the beginning of Balloon Kid for when Jim is floating away.
  • The Balloon Trip end jingle.
  • The Balloon Trip Giant Bubble jingle for stopping the time.

Sound Test

After completing the game, you will be greeted with a "the end" screen. If you press A + B + Start + Select fast enough and correctly, you will unlock a hidden non-visual sound test. Press Up and Down to select the track (including unused ones), and A to play the selected track.
