Maya the Bee & Her Friends is a Lost Vikings-esque puzzle game based on the German-Japanese cartoon. It wouldn't have been too notable if not for the fact that it started development as a South Park game, which was scrapped due to Nintendo, Matt Stone, and Trey Parker not wanting to release an adult game for a system that was mostly owned by children. A ROM of the original game would later surface in August 2018.[1]

It was later given a buzz cut and retooled into two Mary-Kate & Ashley games of all things.

Hidden Menu

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: See if there's a way to get the level select to work.

SouthParkGBCHiddenMenu.png

GameShark code 01052FDD or Game Genie code 051-B9F-E6A opens a hidden menu, identical to the one in the South Park prototype, containing a level select (which doesn't seem to work) and sound test.

South Park Remnants

Oh my god, they scrapped Kenny! Mayathebee cartman.png Mayathebee kyle.png Mayathebee stan.png

Several remnants of the game's South Park days remain in the Maya ROM.

Itchy

What appears to be Itchy from The Simpsons. Perhaps they were toying with different licenses after the South Park game fell through before eventually settling on Maya the Bee?

(C)Probe

This is for the sound driver, which is used in most Game Boy games developed by Probe. This game was not developed by Probe, but most of the staff that worked for Crawfish previously worked for Probe, including the sound team. This text can also be found in the South Park prototype.
