E3 2011 Trailer

Trailer of the game shown at E3 2011 featuring early footage of the game.

Differences include entirely different dialog boxes and the working title of "Animal Crossing" before it was given the "New Leaf" subtitle. The Master Sword shown in the footage is reused from Animal Crossing: City Folk.

E3 2012 eShop Downloadable Video

In 2012, a video preview for AC:NL was released on the Nintendo eShop for download. This build closely reflected the nearing final Japanese release of the game in late 2012 with a few differences:

  • The trees seem wider and like the E3 screenshot shown in the main article.
    Acnl-prerelease-tree.PNG
  • The flowers almost closely resemble the final to a few differences.
  • The bushes seem larger and somewhat resemble the final.
  • Text boxes are squared instead of rounded. The text box was later recolored as blue and reused for system-only dialogue (Like the save menu and internet connection dialogue).

  • The arrow to continue font is different.
  • Nibble’s or Gaston’s home are different from the final.
  • Isabelle talks like any female villager.
  • The sound for changing your clothing is the same as the sound from City Folk.
  • The port is shaped like a backwards L and the bin for picking up items from the Island is missing.
  • When underwater searching for seafood, your player’s shadow doesn’t appear.

A video containing the footage can be viewed on the Internet Archive or on Youtube.
