To do:
There's more stuff in this video, such as Penguin running aside during the final battle, which he doesn't do in the final.

yes, konami is back once again, or rather will soon be on your screens, with this fantastic adaptation of the Batman movie. With heroes from the Marvel comics, this title should not disappoint. If the universe of Batman Returns seems rather gloomy to you, that is because it is. Ff you've watched the movie; you won't have any trouble understanding the reason why. Other than that, Batman Returns takes place in the style of a traditional action game. The multidirectional scrolling promises to be a little gem and the size of the sprites seems impressive. By reuniting with all the stars of the film, michel pfeiffer in the role of Catwoman and dany de vito in the role of the penguin, strong emotions are to return. Konami promises us an adaptation that lives up to its reputation.
I won't give you a complete talk on konami, but according to me and this is just a personal opinion, this Japanese company is -currently- the best video game publishing house You only need to watch the test of Tiny Toon on super famicon. Once again, Konami is likely to hit hard with this film adaptation. Which was a great success when it was seen in cinemas. Although this game is just an action platformer game like many others, the atmosphere that emerges is completely staggering. By leading Batman, the bat man with a thousand faces, through the streets of Gotham City, you will have all the pains in the world to prove that you are indeed the messiah. With your baterange and your batmobile, you can still manage a few brilliant shots that will make your opponent’s reconsider. The game is gigantic with its content, the image of Konami is surely to not suffer from the adaptation of Batman Returns on super Famicom as this achievement seems amazing

  • Everything about the HUD is different.
  • The early version has a Bat Signal in the background.
  • Batman's pose is different. The head is more laid back in the final version.

Promotional Videos

A promotional video by Konami previewing the game. The early version of the HUD can be seen and many of the sprites are in early states that differ from final.

Batman Returns Promo Video Cut Stage.png

A stage cut from the final release. The NES version does have a stage with a similar setting: Shreck's Department Store.

A later promotional video shows the game in a finished state. However the footage starting at 4m49s shows a HUD in an in-between version between the above previews and the final, indeed the Test Tubes are represented by an icon rather than by text.
