Tokyo Game Show 2002 Demo

Hmmm...
To do:
May need to find a video from the TGS'02 Demo

An earlier build of the game was shown off at the 2002 Tokyo Game Show at September 20th 2002, alongside Shutokou Battle 01. There is currently no footage recorded of the booth at the event, however, two screenshots from it was posted onto an article on the Response website.

Image Name Image Description
20314 20314.jpg The first of these screenshots is one for the 'Go Pass' menu. It showcased various difference changes, such as the map of the course on the right side, and also an additional 'Player' name (which may have suggested that the game would allow you to put your own name in, similar to the sequels). The Haruna course is also named under Course 1, which suggests that the course was the first one to be finished (as the Haruna course has the CourseID at 0 in the final game).
20315 20315.jpg The second of these screenshots is from the garage menu, which showcases a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII (CT9A). This menu has various differences compared to the final build, such as a different background, the lack of both the cars' chassis code and aspiration method (in this case, being a 'Turbo' car), a different graphic for the drivetrain silhouette, and a different HUD for the days, which does not list the name of the day on it, alongside it having the weather condition's name.

Drift Racer: Kaido Battle

Box art for the cancelled Sammy localization, Drift Racer: Kaido Battle, which also had received an ESRB rating before it's cancellation

Sammy Studios, Sammy's US division, originally planned to localize the first Kaido Battle as Drift Racer: Kaido Battle, with tentative release date of February 2004. However, the Sammy localization was quietly canceled before release, with Crave instead publishing the English version two years after Sammy's original plans instead.

According to pre-release screenshots posted with the original localization plan, the Ford Focus would have been kept in their localization of the game.
