An early screenshot with several differences can be seen on the back of the game's box and in the manual.
- Hulk Hogan's character portrait is completely different.
- Hogan's in-game sprite appears to be somewhat different and includes a headband.
- Andre the Giant's strap is straighter in his portrait.
- The ropes were changed from being all one color to red, white, and blue for the final.
- "1UP and "2UP" appear next to the player names below the portraits.
- Names players can enter seem to be limited to three characters, while in the final it's six.
- The line between the hammer and bell is different.
