This is a sub-page of Proto:.flow.
Version 0.04 of .flow was created July 4, 2009, and features some gradual improvements over 0.03.
General Differences
- Most sound effects are placeholders from RPG Maker 2000's RTP.
- Collecting an effect displays a normal text box with no sound or visual elements.

- Sabitsuki can now sit down when not equipped with an effect. This, however, creates a few bugs with Sabitsuki's chair that allows you to easily disable collision and increase her speed to 8x, which are still used by speedrunners to this day.
- Aside from the version number, the title screen now matches final.

Map Differences
61 maps now exist at this point, compared to 0.194's 296. Many areas are highly incomplete, with the note ........工事中でございます。......... (Under construction...) appearing in many locations. 5 effects are now present, compared to the 24 in final.
17 maps have been added since 0.03 to give 61 maps, compared to 0.194's 296. 1 new effect was added to give 5 effects, compared to the 24 in final.
Sabitsuki's Room

- The Verdana does not exist yet, so there is no screen door.
- Shinsoku Neko exists in a very rudimentary form, allowing you to enter and exit the game, but has no other functionality.
- Interacting with the door lets you directly access the Debug Room while awake, rather then needing to modify files.
- Beginning flow no longer uses placeholder Sabitsuki's. However, there is no functionality for displaying the effects, and the second border is still present.
Debug Room
The Debug Room, as stated, is present and easily accessible, although it's lacking most of the features of the final room.
Going from left to right:
- The sign above Sabitsuki's computer literally says 'Debug Room'. Interacting with the computer and chair is the same as the ones in the normal bedroom.
- The Kaibutsu in the corner is functional and was used for testing the effects of attacking with the Pipe, as attacking them and being caught will teleport you back to the debug room.
- The doorway leads back into Sabitsuki's real-world room.
- The icons at the top enable a few debug features. The Entrance icon changes which of the three default looks the Entrance will use when going to sleep, the Cat allows multiple options to change Sabitsuki's speed (from 'ordinary' to 'god speed'), and the dot enables saving at any time without the need for a bed.
- The characters to the right all give and remove their individual effects. Note that in 0.03, the Watering Can effect obtained from the third character is instead the Ghost effect, as the Watering Can wasn't implemented until 0.06.
Music World

|
Visual identical to its appearance in 0.03. Wastewater Lake doesn't exist yet, but the Connecting Tile Path now connects with the White Room due to it being implemented.
White Room
- Visually about the same as final, however there's the inclusion of four separate maps during the maze for randomly transferring a player along when the solution isn't done correctly. While this did allow for access to the TV room or the Footprint Path, its randomness ultimately made the process more confusing then it needed to be, leading to it being simplified and the majority of the maps overwritten for the Reverse Apartments and a larger room leading to the Footprint Path by 0.07.

Identical to its appearance in 0.03. The biggest difference is that the ghost that normally gives the Watering Can effect instead gives the Ghost effect, with the ghost's sprite slightly modified to match.
Submarine World
- Oreko now gives her effect when spoken to.
The introduction area to Submarine World received some modifications in layout. The Submarine Village didn't exist yet, so the path to the top-right also doesn't exist. The graphics are also noticeably simpler and lacking in detail.
The TV's graphic was updated to match final and now connects with Geometry World, however the heart monitor is still missing.

There used to be graffiti of Sabitsuki's face, but this was later changed to be more smudged instead.
After this point, the maze ends with another ........工事中でございます。........., since the Prison wasn't implemented yet.
Utility Pole World

Identical except for one small difference: an orb in the corner was mistakenly placed where a pole is located. This was corrected some time after 0.07.
Apartments
- The Iron Pipe now works on the slime, but not the eye.

- The elevator uses a different graphic, and doesn't appear to work yet.

- There's three doors present instead of two, with two of the apartments being accessible instead of just one. Curiously, the door at the very end looks identical to Madotsuki's door in Yume Nikki, which was changed later.
- Snow World doesn't exist yet, so the NPC that normally exists in Plant Labyrinth is present in one of the apartments instead.
- This second apartment, which doesn't have any events, was later overwritten with the staircase leading to the School.
- The rooftop of the Apartments was added, but there's no warp to Cloud World yet due to it not being implemented.
Dysmorphic World
- The warp to the sub-area via two arms is now present, although the Footprint Path is still missing.
Geometry World
- While present from the TV, it does not connect to Microscopic World due to it not being implemented yet.
Graphical Differences
- The staircase leading to the Apartments uses a slightly different graphic, appearing less rusted.

- Sabitsuki's computer mouse is on the right-hand side rather then the left-hand side.
- All of Sabitsuki's sprites have a minor difference of one extra pixel at the collar of her shirt in her left/right-facing poses.
- The Mono Eye effect now matches final.
- The NPC who occupies the Apartments had their graphics modified slightly, giving them a coat.
- The faceset portrait is identical to 0.03.
