This is a sub-page of Proto:.flow.

Version 0.05 of .flow was created August 14, 2009, and features the first appearance of the Cat effect and the Submarine Corridors.

General Differences

  • Most sound effects are placeholders from RPG Maker 2000's RTP.
  • Collecting an effect displays a normal text box with no sound or visual elements.
0.03-0.07 0.194
.flow-0.03 get effect.png .flow-get effect.png

Map Differences

7 maps have been added since 0.04 to give 69 maps, compared to 0.194's 296. 1 new effect, Cat, was added to give 6 effects, compared to the 24 in final.

Sabitsuki's Room

0.03-0.07 0.194
.flow-0.03 real room.png .flow-real room.png
  • The Verdana does not exist yet, so there is no screen door.
  • Shinsoku Neko is now playable, including the cheat code to enable "True Shinsoku Neko" (真・神速猫) by press left, left, right, right, up, down, up, and down on the title screen. Different from final though is the lack of a splash screen before starting the game proper, differences in sound effects and music, and only being able to make one mistake before dying instead of three.
  • Interacting with the door lets you directly access the Debug Room while awake, rather then needing to modify files.
  • Beginning flow is the same as the prior build.

Debug Room

0.03 0.04 0.05 Final
.flow-0.03 Debug Room.png .flow-0.04 Debug Room.png .flow-0.05 Debug Room.png .flow-0.194 Debug Room.png

The Debug Room, as stated, is present and easily accessible, although it's lacking most of the features of the final room, and now sports a carpet.

Going from left to right:

  • The sign above Sabitsuki's computer literally says 'Debug Room'. Interacting with the computer and chair is the same as the ones in the normal bedroom.
  • The Kaibutsu in the corner is functional and was used for testing the effects of attacking with the Pipe, as attacking them and being caught will teleport you back to the debug room.
  • The doorway leads back into Sabitsuki's real-world room.
  • The icons at the top enable a few debug features. The Entrance icon changes which of the three default looks the Entrance will use when going to sleep, the Cat allows multiple options to change Sabitsuki's speed (from 'ordinary' to 'god speed'), and the dot enables saving at any time without the need for a bed.
  • The characters to the right all give and remove their individual effects. Note that in older versions, the Watering Can effect obtained from the third character is instead the Ghost effect, as the Watering Can wasn't implemented until 0.06.

Music World

0.03-0.05 0.194
.flow-0.03 music world.png .flow-music world.png

Visually identical to its appearance in prior builds.

White Room

  • Like the last build, there's the inclusion of four separate maps during the maze for randomly transferring a player along when the solution isn't done correctly. While this did allow for access to the TV room or the Footprint Path, its randomness ultimately made the process more confusing then it needed to be, leading to it being simplified and the majority of the maps overwritten for the Reverse Apartments and a larger room leading to the Footprint Path by 0.07.

MAP 51

Beyond this, the warp to the TV room at the end of the maze is still not present.

Plant World

0.03-0.05 0.194
.flow-0.03 plant world.png .flow-plant world.png

Identical to its appearance in prior builds.

Submarine World

0.03 0.04-0.05 Final
.flow-0.03 MAP0022.png .flow-0.04 MAP0022.png .flow-MAP0022.png

Identical to its appearance in 0.04.

0.03 0.04-0.05 Final
.flow-0.03 MAP0027.png .flow-0.04 MAP0027.png .flow-MAP0027.png

The heart monitor is still missing.

0.03-0.05 0.194
.flow-0.03 MAP0024.png .flow-MAP0024.png

The rocks at the bottom were moved up a tile.

0.03-0.05 0.194
.flow-0.03 MAP0025.png .flow-MAP0025.png

The area is overall smaller, and lacks the teleport to Starry Pier in the lower right.

0.03-0.06 0.194
.flow-0.03 MAP0026.png .flow-MAP0026.png

A path through the rock was put in the middle, most likely for convenience.

0.03-0.07 0.1-0.194
.flow-0.03 MAP0037.png .flow-MAP0037.png

There used to be graffiti of Sabitsuki's face, but this was later changed to be more smudged instead.

Submarine Corridors

First version of the game where these are present, however the Prison and Orange Maze are not implemented. The only difference visually between this and final is various creatures that were added/modified for final.

0.05 0.06-0.194
.flow-0.05 MAP0069.png .flow-MAP0069.png

Orange Maze

While technically present, the Orange Maze only exists as a placeholder map in this build, with nothing in it except basic tiles. .flow-0.05 MAP0067.png

Utility Pole World

0.03-0.07 0.194
.flow-early utility pole world orb.png .flow-utility pole world orb.png

Identical except for one small difference: an orb in the corner was mistakenly placed where a pole is located. This was corrected some time after 0.07.

Apartments

  • The Iron Pipe still does not work on the eye.
0.03-0.07 0.1-0.194
.flow-0.03 MAP0016.png .flow-MAP0016.png
  • The elevator still uses a different graphic, but now links with the Submarine Corridors.
0.03-0.07 0.1-0.194
.flow-0.03 MAP0039.png .flow-MAP0039.png
  • There's three doors present instead of two, with two of the apartments being accessible instead of just one. Curiously, the door at the very end looks identical to Madotsuki's door in Yume Nikki, which was changed later.
0.03 0.04-0.07 0.1-Final
.flow-0.03 MAP0042.png .flow-0.04 MAP0042.png .flow-MAP0042.png
  • Snow World doesn't exist yet, so the NPC that normally exists in Plant Labyrinth is present in one of the apartments instead.
0.03 0.04-0.07
.flow-0.03 MAP0041.png
.flow-0.04 MAP0041.png
  • This second apartment, which doesn't have any events, was later overwritten with the staircase leading to the School.
0.04 0.05 0.6-Final
.flow-0.04 MAP0045.png
.flow-0.05 MAP0045.png
.flow-MAP0045.png
  • Cloud World is still not implemented, so the warp to it is also missing.

Dysmorphic World

  • The warp to the Footprint Path is now implemented. Due to the Rainbow Maze not being implemented until 0.07, the Cat effect is just found where the warp to it would be in later versions.

Geometry World

0.04-0.07 0.1-Final
.flow-0.03 MAP0060.png
.flow-MAP0060.png
0.04-0.07 0.1-Final
.flow-0.04 MAP0061.png
.flow-MAP0061.png
  • Geometry World still lacks the warp to Microscopic World.

Graphical Differences

  • The staircase leading to the Apartments uses a slightly different graphic, appearing less rusted.
0.03-0.07 0.194
.flow-0.03 Apartment Stairs.png .flow-Apartment Stairs.png
  • Sabitsuki's computer mouse is on the right-hand side rather then the left-hand side.
  • All of Sabitsuki's sprites have a minor difference of one extra pixel at the collar of her shirt in her left/right-facing poses.
  • The Mono Eye effect now matches final.
  • The NPC who occupies the Apartments has the same sprites as 0.04.
0.03 0.04-0.07 Final
.flow-0.03 Plant Generic NPC.png .flow-0.04 Plant Generic NPC.png .flow-Plant Generic NPC.png
  • The faceset portrait is identical to 0.03.
0.03-0.05 0.194
.flow-0.03 face.png .flow-face.png
  • The instructions for the minigame are formatted slightly differently.
0.03-0.05 0.194
.flow-0.03 ミニゲーム枠.png .flow-ミニゲーム枠.png
  • densen2, the panorama used for the rooftop of the Apartments, was modified to crop out the utility pole.
