An unreleased Japanese version of Burnout under the localized name Heaven's Drive was discovered by Sega Dreamcast Info in September 2022. This build is functionally identical to the final build from other releases. It was originally planned for release in Japan around 2002. It was never released, likely due to the publisher, Acclaim Japan, shutting down in 2002.

Sega would then become the Japanese publisher, restarting the localization under the name of Grand Heat. It was showcased at Tokyo Game Show 2002, but was also never released, probably due to Acclaim's failing venture with Sega, who were in charge of its publication.

Differences

  • Some English localization changes such as "Face Off" mode being called "Duel".
  • The name of the main menu is normally called "Main Menu" instead of "Burnout".
  • In the credits, Rabin Ezra's role was changed from "PS2 Guru" to "Console Guru."

Memory Card

The save title as well as the icon used in the Memory Card has been altered to remove the Burnout logo.
