This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Sometime around 2011, an Xbox 360 development kit was discovered containing five development builds of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Four (builds 253, 270, 290 and 328) of the builds have since circulated on the Internet, while a fifth (build 114) from a considerably earlier stage of development remains unreleased. The game was built nightly, meaning that the game's first build was created around July 2006. Someway through development, the script for the campaign underwent a drastic revision. Only two missions, AC130 (Death from Above) and Cargoship (Crew Expendable) are retained in the final game, with the rest being cut. Developers speculate even these missions were only kept because of how much tech was sunk into them. In particular Crew Expendable, because of how many of the scenes had to be motion captured.
