Old Toggle Entrance

Lbp3alpha giant spawnpoint2 icon.tex.png
An alternate version of the Entrance that has the older design of Toggle engraved onto it. It's tweak menu is almost the same as the default Entrance save for a color tweak for the inside glow.

Removed Backgrounds

A number of backgrounds in this build were removed from the final version of the game. While a couple of them ended up in the April 13th 2015 debug build, for retail versions they were either removed entirely or repurposed beyond recognition.

Filename and Path Popit Icon In-game Screenshot Notes
gamedata/lbp3/_popit_puzzle/palettes/env_pp_history_background_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 pp history background icon.png Lbp3 r513946 bg popit museum.png A museum background clearly intended for the Popit Academy. Several green Sackboy statues can be seen throughout the background, while yellow, red and blue banners advertising the "Popit Museum" can be seen hanging on the walls.
gamedata/lbp3/_popit_puzzle/palettes/env_pp_tomorrows_world_background_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 pp tomorrows world background icon.png Lbp3 r513946 bg tomorrows world.png A film set supposedly based on the BBC program Tomorrow's World. All that remains of this background in the final game is a folder in gamedata/lbp3/_popit_puzzle/background/ labelled env_pp_tomorrows_world_background, which contains the files env_pp_tomorrows_world_platform_background.mol and env_pp_tomorrows_world_light_beam_background.mol. In the final game, both of these models are the repeating floor meshes used on the default Blank Background.
gamedata/lbp3/__dimensional_doorways/palettes/env_dd_3_background_1_baked.plan The moon? Yep. A space background that, based on its filename, was intended to appear in a theme called "Dimensional Doorways". This background would be revised in later prototypes, but in the final game it was replaced with a broken version of the final Manglewood background. In spite of all the changes it went through, its icon remains unchanged.
gamedata/lbp3/_popit_puzzle/palettes/4.plan Lbp3 r513946 pp art background icon.png Lbp3 r513946 bg pp art.png A placeholder background with no lighting defined. Whatever it was a placeholder for was likely intended for the Popit Academy. For some reason, the background's mesh is drawn ontop of objects with single layer thickness (i.e. characters) from Layer 2 onward, leading to objects and characters seemingly becoming invisible.
gamedata/lbp3/__dimensional_doorways/palettes/env_dd_1_background_1_baked.plan Lbp3 dd 1 background icon.tex.png Not for the seasick. An animated sea background that, based on its filename, was intended to appear in a theme called "Dimensional Doorways". The waves in the background move in alternating directions, creating a somewhat disorienting effect. This background was updated for the April 13th 2015 debug build, where its new language data refers to it as "Theatrical Ocean".
gamedata/lbp3/__dimensional_doorways/palettes/6576_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 dd2 background icon.tex.png Beware Ogre An swamp background that, based on its filename, was intended to appear in a theme called "Dimensional Doorways". This background was updated for the April 13th 2015 debug build.
gamedata/lbp3/unthemed/palettes/env_default_background_template_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 default background icon.tex.png Lbp3 r513946 bg default shed 01 downstairs.png An unfinished shed background, presumably intended to be the default background. The bottom floor is littered with boxes, wheels and a jerrycan, and a go-kart can be seen on the right half of the room. Meanwhile, the top floor is a bit more organised, with shelves and boxes on the right half, and an armor statue on the left half. Nearly everything is untextured, barring the walls and floor.
gamedata/lbp3/_popit_puzzle/palettes/env_pp_dad_shed_background.plan Lbp3 r513946 default background icon.tex.png Lbp3 r513946 bg default shed 02 upstairs.png A duplicate of the previous background with different lighting. For some reason, this is stored alongside the Popit Academy backgrounds.
gamedata/lbp3/__book1/palettes/env_book1_background_03_squished_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 Manglewood2bgicon.png LBP3r513946 bg manglewood tiki.png A paradise island background intended for this build's iteration of Manglewood. A more polished version of this background was brought back to the final game in the Tiki Paradise Level Kit DLC.
gamedata/lbp3/__book1/palettes/env_book1_background_squished_1_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 mw background icon.png Lbp3 r513946 bg manglewood forest 02.pngLbp3 r513946 bg manglewood forest 01.png Arguably the most detailed background of the lot, this seems to have been created for an earlier iteration of Manglewood than what appears in this build. It appears to take place in an abandoned Japanese house in the middle of a bamboo forest. The interior is filled with tables of potted bonsai trees, with the basement being littered with pipes and mushrooms.
gamedata/lbp3/__book1/palettes/env_sacktown_background_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 env stitchem green background icon.png Lbp3 r513946 bg stitchem green.png A countryside background intended for Stitchem Green. A duplicate of this background with different lighting exists, labelled 16369_baked.plan.
gamedata/lbp3/__book2/palettes/env_ziggurat_background_baked.plan Lbp3 r513946 ziggurat background icon.png Lbp3 r513946 bg ziggurat.png A grassy cavern background with strange lighting and shadows intended for the Ziggurat.
