This is a sub-page of Proto:Maya the Bee & Her Friends.

Throughout the game, Chef gives the boys hints/advice. It's the main way any narrative is included in the game.

Title screen demo text, part 1

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Chef:
HELLO THERE CHILDREN!

Stan, Kyle, and Cartman:
HEY CHEF.

Cartman:
WHAT'S GONNA BE FOR LUNCH TODAY CHEF?

Chef:
WELL CHILDREN,
TODAY IT'S GONNA BE SALISBURY STEAK.

Cartman:
KICK ASS!

Chef:
SAY ANY OF YOU KIDS HEARD ABOUT THE COMET?
IT'S REALLY BAD LUCK,
IT ONLY COMES EVERY 666 YEARS!
THIS ONE IS THE WORST OF ALL, AS THE WEEK IT
PASSES OVER SOUTH PARK THERE IS ALSO
A FULL MOON,
A SOLAR ECLIPSE,
AND THIS FRIDAY IS THE THIRTEENTH!

Stan, Kyle, and Cartman:
OH MY GOD!!

Kenny:
MMM MM MMMPH!

Chef:
YEAH, IT'S CALLED THE
COLOSSAL-SCHU-BOP-TITAN-BEHEMOTH-299.
BUT I CALL IT E.V.I.L. FOR SHORT.

(a shot of the kids looking worried)

Chef:
THERE IS GONNA BE A LOT OF WEIRD THINGS
GOING ON. YOU HAVE GOTTA BE READY.

Stan:
LIKE THAT TIME WHEN MR. MOONEY HAD TO HAVE THE
CLASS HAMSTER TAKEN OUT OF HIS ASS?

Cartman:
THAT WAS PRETTY F***ED UP THERE.
I DON'T KNOW WHY HE
SWALLOWED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Kenny:
MMM MMMMMPH MMPHMMPH MMPH. MMMMPH MMPH.

Kyle:
WHY WOULD HE WANT TO DO THAT?

Chef:
NEVERMIND, CHILDREN. WELL HOPEFULLY
NOTHING THAT WEIRD WILL HAPPEN,
BUT YOU'D BETTER BE CAREFUL, CHILDREN!
LOOK OUT FOR EACH OTHER.
ESPECIALLY KENNY!
Miss Cassandra:
Maya!
A group of Ants, Termites and Spiders have
ganged together to try and get our honey.
They have kidnapped some of your friends
and are holding them for ransom.

Maya:
Don't worry, Cassandra - they'll never
have our honey! Willi, Flip and I will
stop them - right?

Willi and Flip:
Yes! We will work together!

Miss Cassandra:
They are very, very devious and have
undoubtedly set traps for you.
Please be careful.

Maya:
You know us, we don't get into trouble!

Miss Cassandra:
Hmmm...

This is the text you get when idling on the title screen. It serves the same purpose in both games: establishing the premise and the stakes. The main difference is that South Park has far more characterization and lore than Maya the Bee & Her Friends could offer the player.

South Park's Mr. Mooney seems to be an invention of the game, as no such character exists in the show. Coincidentally, the concept of a teacher in South Park getting a rodent lodged in his gastrointestinal tract would be repeated for a subplot in the 2002 episode "The Death Camp of Tolerance".

Title screen demo text, part 2

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Stan:
HEY CHEF?
HOW ARE WE EVER GOING TO STOP THE ALIENS?

Chef:
WELL CHILDREN,
I CAN'T EXACTLY TELL YOU HOW,
BUT I CAN GIVE YOU A FEW TIPS.
STAN, I THINK IF YOU TRIED REALLY HARD
YOU COULD PICK UP FAT BOY HERE AND THROW HIM.
WHY DON'T YOU GIVE IT A TRY.

Miss Cassandra:
Push the B button to pickup and
throw Willi.

Another title screen idle sequence following the story primer discussed earlier, this time outlining how the gameplay works, followed by a demonstration for the player's benefit. While Maya is more straightforward with its explanation yet fails to specify that only Maya can carry Willi, South Park features more character-driven dialogue and avoids directly saying how Stan can carry and throw Cartman in an effort to maintain the integrity of the fourth wall.

Title screen demo text, part 3

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Cartman:
OUCH! THAT HURT YA BUTT LICKER.

Stan:
STOP YOUR MOANING FATASS.

Chef:
NOW CHILDREN,
YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO ALL WORK TOGETHER
IF YOU'RE GOING TO SAVE SOUTH PARK.
NOW,
BOTH OF YOU BOYS CAN STAND ON CARTMAN'S HEAD.
AND YOU CAN USE KYLE'S HEAD AS A SPRING BOARD.

Stan:
DO YOU MEAN LIKE THIS CHEF?
Miss Cassandra:
Use your friends to help you.

At this point, we should note that all of the gameplay explanation is told sequentially in South Park, while Maya breaks it up into separate demos, meaning the player has to repeatedly idle on the latter game's title screen to see it all.

Maya also fails to explain how Willi and Trip function when standing on them, leaving the demo to show it alone.

Title screen demo text, part 4

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Kyle:
DUDE! THAT KICKS ASS!

Chef:
NOW CARTMAN,
WITH YOUR SIZE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SWIM.
AND BOYS, WHILE HE'S SWIMMING
HE COULD CARRY YOU AS WELL.

Miss Cassandra:
Willi can fly over water and honey.

More detail omission on Maya's part, as only the demo shows Willi's ability to carry his friends while flying.

Title screen demo text, part 5

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Chef:
STAN, THE ALIENS HAVE PUT SOME
WEIRD SWITCHES AROUND SOUTH PARK.
ONLY YOU CAN OPERATE THEM.
SOME WILL GIVE YOU ACCESS TO AREAS YOU
COULDN'T REACH BEFORE,
SOME WILL OPERATE THE ESCALATORS,
AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY,
SOME WILL OPEN THE CAGES KENNY GETS HELD IN.
Miss Cassandra:
Only Maya can use the switches.

Not only does Maya fail to explain the functions of the switches Maya can use, but only South Park bothers to give (flimsy) justification for their existence.

Title screen demo text, part 6

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Chef:
NOW THEN KYLE.

Kyle:
YES CHEF?

Chef:
YOU CAN USE YOUR SPRINGY HEAD TO BREAK
THE SNOWBALLS INTO SMALL PIECES,
AND STAN,

Stan:
YEAH CHEF?

Chef:
YOU CAN PICK UP THE SNOWBALLS AND USE THEM TO
KILL BAD GUYS, OR IF YOU THROW THEM INTO
SPIKE PITS THEY WILL MELT AND CARTMAN CAN
SWIM ACROSS.

Cartman:
SWEET!
Miss Cassandra:
Flip can break some rocks with his head,
so that Maya can throw them.

Maya continues the running theme of omitting certain gameplay details, in this case the secondary function of the rocks Maya can throw.

Title screen demo text, part 7

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Chef:
NOW THEN CHILDREN!
THERE IS ANOTHER TYPE OF SWITCH YOU CAN ALL USE.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS JUMP ON THEM,
OR JUMP UP AND PUSH THEM FOR THEM TO WORK.

Kyle:
SOUNDS EASY ENOUGH TO ME.
COME ON DUDES, LET'S GIVE IT A TRY.

Miss Cassandra:
Anyone can use the push button switches.

Maya doesn't explain how anyone can interact with the push button switches.

Title screen demo text, part 8

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Cartman:
DAMNIT STAN!
STOP THROWING ME AROUND OR I'LL
KICK YOU IN THE NUTS!

Chef:
YOU BETTER START GETTING USED TO THAT, BOY.

Stan:
YEAH FATASS, ZIP IT!

Chef:
HOLD UP THERE CHILDREN.
THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BEAT THESE ALIENS
IS IF YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER.
SO SHUT THE HELL UP WHILE I'M TALKING.
NOW THIS IS THE SORT OF PROBLEM YOU'RE GOING
TO FACE ALL WEEK.
SO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO IS THIS.
STAN, YOU HAVE TO FLICK THE SWITCH THAT
CONTROLS THE DOOR KENNY IS TRAPPED BEHIND.
ALSO, IF YOU COLLECT ALL THE PICKUPS IN EACH
AREA YOU WILL GO TO A BONUS ROOM.
OH YEAH, YOU ONLY HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT
OF TIME TO DO IT IN.
Miss Cassandra:
Collect the three pick-ups and rescue
your friend.

Aside from the lack of character banter, Maya does not explain the timer or what the pickups do.

Title screen demo text, part 9

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Chef:
THAT WASN'T TOO HARD NOW WAS IT?
AND ALONG WITH ALL THAT,
THE ALIENS ARE STILL AFTER OUR COWS.
SO YOU ALSO HAVE TO KEEP THEM ALIVE.
STAN, YOU KEEP AN EYE ON THE TOP,
AND DON'T LET THE ALIEN SHIP NEAR THE COWS.

Stan:
UNDERSTOOD DUDE.

Chef:
THE REST OF YOU CAN COLLECT THE PICKUPS.
Miss Cassandra:
Keep the spider away from the flower until the
time runs out.

Maya does not stress Maya's importance in the spider levels.

Title screen demo text, part 10

South Park Maya the Bee & Her Friends
Chef:
NOW BOYS, GET TO IT!
AND REMEMBER..
THIS ISN'T A GAME!

Stan:
OK, CHEF.

(a sound effect plays)

Kyle:
HA STAN, YOU FARTED!

Stan, Kyle, and Cartman:
HA HA HA..
N/A

And finally, Maya does not have an equivalent to the conclusion of the gameplay explanation. In its place is the game's credits.
