This page details one or more prototype versions of Rez (Dreamcast).

So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
SOMETIMES I SEE A TEXT BOX AND I JUST CAN'T HELP MYSSDFGFFDHFGDJGGFSHGDFH
This page sucks.
If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome.
Specifically: This article is really badly worded, poorly formatted and lacks a lot of media in favour of vauge text descriptions.

Vibes (also known as K Project) is a Rez prototype dated June 7, 2001, five-and-a-half months away from the game's release.

Differences

  • The Sega logo uses the lighter Eastern variant of the logo.
  • The title screen looks very different.
  • Areas 1 through 4 all use the song Cowgirl by Underworld (specifically the Live Rez/Cowgirl performance) and all boss fights in those areas use Born Slippy .NUXX, also by Underworld.
    • The music and sound design of Area 5 is nearly identical to the final build, however the boss fights lack background music.
  • The sounds used for the shots 1 to 7 sound slightly different, while the 8 shot sounds similar, but not quite.
  • There is an Extra mode which flips your Y-axis.
  • The prototype has a separate model for the First and Fifth forms. The former has a triangle with a smooth tip in its body instead of a small square, while the latter's spikes are yellow instead of grey.
  • The Final form isn't present in this build.
  • When starting a level, the area X log-in text is not present.
    • The layer level XX text displayed after breaching a firewall is also not present.
  • The text shown before a boss fight is much more brief.
  • The text shown in-between each layer in Area 5 is not present.
  • If you die, there is a continue screen not present in the final game. If you continue, you go back to the first form.
  • Score Attack is not available. However, Bonus Nodes appear in the normal "play" mode unlike the final build.

Bugs

  • In this prototype, you can lock onto a Node more than one time before it breaks.
