Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors. This page contains content that is not safe for work or other locations with the potential for personal embarrassment. Such as: Pixel renditions of blood, slight gore, Nazi imagery, and images of der Staatmeister! |
Wall Textures
Wolfenstein 3-D Final | RotT Sept. '93 Proto |
---|---|
Quite a few wall textures received swaps even this early in. Of note, any nazi imagery has been replaced by the Mark of the Triad. Even the leader of the old guard, himself, is sporting the new symbol! Beyond that, there are far less images of Hitler and it appears that the game was going to have a load of stone walls – some with pipes, some with portholes. Also, a single wooden wall texture with a large Christian cross on it. It's possible the Cult of Oscuro did not exist at this time.

The standard Guard was given a gray uniform. He also got a nice Triad emblem on his front pocket.
The final game's Low Guard lacks the emblem on the pocket, placing it on the helmet instead, but keeps the color scheme intact.

The Officer was made a little more... colorful. The gold studs on his collar are probably Marks of the Triad. One of his angled movement frames also has a stray pixel on it.
When he was promoted to a Strike Force member in the final game, he went back to a mostly white uniform, but with the addition of a Triad insignia on his cap.

The spooky incarnation of Hitler was changed into a spooky wizard of power! His fire was given an overhaul, too! Given the tales of Nazi sorcery during World War II, it kind of makes sense to train people in the mystic arts.
The closest unit in the final game are Deathfire Monks which, much like the wizards here, hurl fireballs – biggest difference being that Deathfire Monks' fireballs are explosive rather than just being fiery.
