Q Billion is a surprisingly complicated puzzle game about a mouse pushing numbered tiles around a grid.
Regional Differences
The US version was enhanced a bit compared to the original Japanese release.
Game A
Japan | US |
---|---|
Cosmetically, the grid itself was changed from black to white, presumably to improve visibility on the (rather dire) original Game Boy screen. Mr. Mouse (yep, that's his name, according to the manual) was also totally redrawn to depict his entire body, instead of just his disembodied head.
In the US version, the first puzzle has detailed tutorial text to help guide the player. This text isn't present in the Japanese version.

The US version is also more user-friendly in general: if the player makes an illegal move, the game rules will pop up onscreen as a reminder. In the Japanese version, nothing happens.
Game B
Japan | US |
---|---|
Just as with Game A, the grid color was inverted from black to white between the Japan and US versions, and Mr. Mouse uses a new set of cartoonier-looking sprites.
