Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Did Working Designs Working Designified this game too?

Unused Sounds

Several unused sounds, all of them leftovers from the game's Arcade release, can be found within the audio packages in folder VAB. Additionally, .WAV copies of these same sounds can be found in the Windows release, inside VAB\WAV.

Filepath File Description
21_DM_VO.VAB
Sound 2
"Neurocomputer"
Meant to be played in the intro sequence.
Also unused in the Arcade release.
In the Sound Test, it is labeled as SE 190.
22_ENDVO.VAB
Sound 1
"...but this is only the beginning."
"だが、これは始まりに過ぎない"
From the Arcade version's bad ending.
As this port uses different sequences for the
bad and normal endings, this goes unused.
In the Sound Test, it is labeled as SE 199.

Dummy File

ZZZZZZZZ.ZZZ, at the root of the PlayStation release's disc image, is a padding file containing the following repeated string:

Text Translated

雨が雨が するどい 雨がきつい
雨 雨たちの 私たちの ミッ○ィー
しかも 半ずれ
雨がすごいよ y=x^2のように

The rain, the rain is nimble, the rain is harsh
Rain, our Mi**y of the rain
And yet, half-slip
The rain is great, like y=x^2

Regional/Version Differences

Options Menu

  • When it comes to the PlayStation releases, the Japanese version has PocketStation support, used to download a game titled RayPocket. This feature is not present in the game's localizations.
  • In the original Japanese PlayStation release, there is a digital manual accessible by the image gallery which is absent from the localizations, as well as the Windows release. This is also reflected in the menu selection:

  • Additionally, there are three images in the gallery exclusive to the Japanese release:

  • The boss of the Emotion Part, known as Sem-Slut in the original Japanese release, had its name changed to Sem-Strut in the localizations.
