Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure is Nippon Ichi's first RPG, now with more musical numbers and giant flying pastries (a point that the American marketing campaign would really try to drive home)!

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document the demo disc version, as well as the pre-release screenshots.
  • More regional differences.

Unused Characters

Mucholy, Shirowdia, Hao, and Nyao

Palette-swaps of the game's main villains (Marjoly, Crowdia, Gao, and Myao, respectively) exist in the game. These were initially made accessible as a download through the Japanese gaming magazine Dengeki DPlaystation15, but can be still accessed in-game through PSX Emulation Cheater or a similar program by inputting the code 3004C00F 00??, where "??" is one of the following:

  • 72 - Mucholy
  • 73 - Shirowdia
  • 74 - Hao
  • 75 - Nyao

Removed Characters

Internally, there's party info for Kururu, Cherie, "Super Kururu" (Cherie's angel form), and the Prince in the code. These can be hacked back into the game through cheat codes, though doing so causes the game to malfunction to various degrees - attempting to view these characters in the Status menu throws up corrupted graphics instead of their actual sprites, and entering a battle with any of them in your party garbles the screen beyond recognition and eventually forces the game to hang completely. However, the mere inclusion of their battle data in the code may imply that these characters, at one point, were planned to have their own battle sequences, and/or may have been recruitable into Cornet's party.

  • 3004C00F 0066 - Kururu (Character slot 1)
  • 3004C033 006E - Cherie (Character slot 2)
  • 3004C057 006D - S. Kururu (Character slot 3)
  • 3004C07B 0067 - Prince (Character slot 4)

Dummied-Out Content

Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.

Restricted Castle Rooms

Regardless of when you visit MotherGreen Castle, a guard always stands in the way of the Prince's room, denying you entry. However, by using the following GameShark code:

D00E311C 0093
800E311E 1000

You can bypass the guard and enter an entire wing of the castle that has fully-programmed NPCs and intractable objects! Strangely, this wing is marked on the ingame map in the DS port, but it crashes when similar cheats are used to try to access it there, meaning it may have been removed from that particular version.

Hidden Shopkeeper Text

By using the following Gameshark code to disable wall collision:

D00E371C 0006
800E371E 2400
D00E3A94 0006
800E3A96 2400
D00E3BA8 0006
800E3BAA 2400
D00E38E8 0101
800E38EA 1000

You can walk directly through the counters in the shops. Talking to the shopkeepers while behind the counter triggers unique dialogue. This may have been a developer Easter egg that was left in.

Unused Items

Two unused items are present in the game's code. Their intended functions are unknown, but their names and descriptions are translated in-game.

Lovestone Revivepotion
3004BBFB 0063 3004BBFD 0063
Everything's like a dream... Not used...

Unused Music

Several tunes go unused and do not appear in the game or any of the soundtracks. While a portion of them were definitely composed by the game's musician, Tenpei Sato, a few of them sound distinctly....off. It's unknown if these were scrapped at the last minute, placeholder tracks, or leftovers from a previous game that Nippon Ichi developed.

Hmmm...
To do:
There are some more unused sound clips that can be found in the sound test written about above; rip, describe, and add these here.

BGM.STR[10] sounds like a slower version of the used track "Beauty Castle".

BGM.STR[11] is a marching theme, complete with a marching-band-like whistle in the background. This might be an alternate victory tune.

BGM.STR[16] bears similarities to the game over theme, "Falling Star".

BGM.STR[17] an odd trumpet-heavy tune that contains the same dripping sound font as BGM.STR[10], for...some reason.

BGM.STR[18] also contains the dripping sound font, but this track is more mellow and (for lack of a better word) "retro" than the previous tracks.

BGM.STR[19] is another (short) musical segment that sounds like it was ripped from 1990s-era PBS.

BGM.STR[22] is a strange, ambient track with a MIDI chorus.
