Developer: Facepunch Studios This game has unused animations. |
This page covers the Experimental version of the game, and not the Legacy version of the game. |
Rust is a survival game made by Facepunch Studios. The only aim in Rust is to survive. Everything wants you to die - the island’s wildlife and other inhabitants, the environment, other survivors. Do whatever it takes to last another night. Rust can be a very cruel game. You win some, you lose it all, and that's what makes it very compelling for its genre.
This game is still under active development. Be aware that any unused content you find may become used or removed in the future. Please only add things to the article that are unlikely to ever be used, or went unused for some time. If they do get used, please remove them from the page and specify in the edit summary! |
This page sucks. If you could make it suck less, that would be awesome. |
To do: There is a lot to do. Add pictures, less clutter. Are the presents actually "removed", or are they still used in-game outside of the F1 menu? |
Unobtainable Items
There are many items that were originally used in the Legacy version but was eventually removed as the creators shifted focus from Rust being a horror survival to simply a survival game.
Leftover stuff from the 2015 X-Mas event These can be found in the F1 menu, and can be spawned or even enabled by an admin to spawn around the world. However, by default, they are disabled. These include presents, coal, a stocking, a SUPER stocking, and a pookie bear.
Blood & Blood Kit
A non-functional leftover item from Legacy. The idea was for a player to be able to draw their own blood with a kit for 25HP each. The blood could then be crafted into Small and Large MedKits to restore their health.
The kit was reusable and could be used as many times as desired. Cannot be used below 25HP.
Small MedKit
Small MedKit is a deleted entity. It can no longer be obtained in Rust.
Used to exist with the purpose of healing a player for 40HP and also stopped the debuff Bleeding instantly. The item ostracized the usage of Bandage which may be related to its removal.
Camera
A handheld camera used to take in-game screenshots.
Fully functional and usable, it is presently not in a loot table. Only an admin can obtain it through the console.
Hazmat Set
There is a Hazmat Suit(Shortnameː hazmatsuit) used in-game to protect the player against Radiation(50%), a debuff that takes away health over time. In the Legacy version that was carried over to the Experimentation Version, there are five parts of clothing a player would've gotten through crafting. Each piece offers protection against the environment in some way. It is wearable though it cannot be obtained in a normal gameplay as there are no crafting options for them. Below is an overview of how they would work if they were to be implemented as is.

Battery - Small
A battery. Hinted towards a future use of powering up flashlights.
Smoke Rocket
Currently, Smoke Rockets are labeled as Work In Progress.
They do minor poison damage to players or to structures, and provide minimal amounts of smoke that doesn't last long. Not available in-game.
Bleach
"A powerful oxidizing agent. Can be used as a disinfectant. Do not drink this."
Unobtainable by normal means. It can be spawned through an admin and it is consumable but they'll lose some health. Stack size is 20.
Duct Tape
"A versatile adhesive tape reinforced with cloth."
Unknown use. A blueprint exists for Duct Tape and 75 Scrap.
Glue
"A sticky white substance recycled from Duct Tape."
Unknown use.
Sticks
Unknown use. Can be recycled for 10 Wood per stack. Likely would've gotten them from gatherable logs along the coastline.
Mid Grade Fuel
A higher quality version of Low Grade Fuel.
It was last heard of in DevBlog 64 where there were plans to use fuel as a main source for electricity. Batteries are powered through Solar Panels or Wind Turbines. The Small Generator can convert fuel into power, but only through Low Grade, and is entirely optional.
Mid Grade Fuel may be repurposed as petroleum in what Megan mentioned as "Tier 2 Flame" in the DevBlog, which is an upgraded Flamethrower with a proper model seemingly abandoned in the client since 2015. If either ever gets implemented.
Animal Skulls
A non-gatherable object from a dead animal, rendering them unused. The function is likely the same as the Wolf Skull.
Paper Map
Descriptionː The Paper Map is one of the first things you should consider crafting when joining a new world. Costing only 5 wood it displays the entire island you have to explore. To open the map, you must place it in your hotbar and then hold the G key on your keyboard. On this map you will see your marker and direction you are facing, the island's topography, biomes, points of interest, and even vending machine locations/names which can help new players substantially.
The item was implemented for some time after the release of the then-new Rust Client. Shortly after a major update, it was made redundant as map viewing did not require Paper or Paper Map. Both were taken out of the game though there are remains in the asset data.
