GTA's surrealist third cousin (twice removed) gets even crazier and subsumes some Prototype into their formula in Saints Row IV, along with an insane number of meta jokes relating to the previous entries and heavier emphasis on pop culture references. It's either better (in terms of content, mostly) or worse than the previous entry, depending on who you ask.

As the game was built off Saints Row: The Third, the unused content from there will not be covered on this page unless noted.

Prerelease Info

Unused Homies

These NPCs were set up to some extent to be summoned via the phone as allies. Most of them are marked as MaybeDLC in the data, unless stated otherwise.

Lin

One of the lieutenants in the original game, Lin has no voiced dialogue during gameplay but there are a number of unused Audio Logs and text pointing to an unused mission where she got revenge on William Sharp. This cut mission was shown in a 10th anniversary stream by Volition. In the mission, the first checkpoint would be to 'Save Lin', and you'd have to traverse 'point to point' between each of the rooms in William Sharp's mansion alongside Donnie as a Homie. It would have been similar to the story surrounding Gat's simulation, in which he would have to attempt to save Aisha over and over again. In each room, Lin would die in a multitude of different ways, until you were able to kill Sharp, unlocking Lin as a Homie in the process. This cut mission had no voice lines or subtitles, and was shown off to be in a buggy state with broken animations- despite featuring in a development build from 2012.

William Sharp

SRIV WilliamSharpHomieIcon.png

The evil attorney has no voice-over during gameplay. His model was repurposed for the senator that you punch out during the start of The Saints Wing. There's also a version of him that's hostile and armed with an alien weapon, so presumably he would have been the boss of a Lin/Donnie loyalty mission before being reconstructed as an ally.

Viola DeWynter

Your former foe-turned-head of the federal reserve uses the same model as in Saints Row The Third, and is fully voiced with new idle dialogue and additional lines for Saints Row IV-centric stuff like UFOs. Her and Kiki would both appear in Gat Out of Hell.

Dane Vogel

There is a series of unused models for Dane Vogel, the head of Ultor. He would not appear until Gat Out of Hell, with a new look created specifically for that expansion.

Super Saints Backup

Not marked as possible DLC, summons the default Saints Row 1 and 2 players as they appeared in A Game Of Clones.

Phillipe Loren

While you fight Loren at the end of Gat's loyalty mission, you never earn the ability to summon him despite him being fully set up and voiced (including "answering the phone" lines) for doing so.

Dr Abysmal, a user on the SomethingAwful forums managed to share a few screenshots showing how he would have appeared in game as a homie.

(Source: Dr. Abysmal)

Kazuo Akuji

Despite having no known voice lines or subtitles present, Akuji is present in the game's files. It is not known whether he was meant to appear as an unlockable Homie, or just as a regular enemy, as neither have any evidence internally to support this- although judging by Saint's Row: IV's theme of having old enemies rehashed as Homies, it is not entirely impossible that this was to be the case.

Unused Unlocks

These unlocks can be seen in your phone after using the Unlockitall cheat, these have space in your phone and some work.

Watercraft

Watercraft was going to be an unlockable in the game. Watercraft was probably removed because the player can eventually run on the water.

Destructor

The Destructor from the mission Batteries Not Included was going to be an unlockable vehicle and was probably going to be given to you after said mission.

Cyrus's VTOL

While appearing in Kenzie's Loyalty Mission when you fight Cyrus Temple, you don't unlock it in-game for use. Probably going to be unlocked along with Cyrus Temple after that mission. This appears if you use, Unlockitall Cheat.

Wrestler Homies

There originally was going to be an option to select Wrestlers in Gang Customization. This one is a special case as it appears in the Gang Customization list, but does nothing when selected. Possibly would have been unlocked after freeing Matt Miller from his simulation.

Unused Graphics

Removed Activities

Escort

SRIV map start Escort.png

While this activity did not return in Saints Row IV, a map icon for it remains in the game's files. Unlike in other games, the icon depicts a steering wheel instead of a heart.

Guardian Angel

SRIV map start Guardian Angel.png

While this activity did not return in Saints Row IV, the map icon for it remains in the game's files.

SRIV TheBloodRadioLogo.png

An unused, yet updated logo for 106.6 The Blood radio station, with Zinyak's face depicted on it. It was likely intended to return.

Vehicle Logos

Unused logos for vehicles that don't exist.

Fuck Yeah

SRIV FckyeahVehicleLogo.png

A rather profane, yet patriotic logo. Likely intended for a cut vehicle relating to a DLC?

Glitch

SRIV GlitchVehicleLogo.png

A messed-up vehicle logo internally called "Glitch". Maybe it was intended for the Simulated Steelport being crashed in Grand Finale?

Virus

SRIV VirusVehicleLogo.png

Likely intended as a vehicle for the Zin?

Unused Audio

Unused Audio Logs

In Saints Row IV, the protagonist can collect Audio Logs that are littered around Virtual Steelport. However, there are quite a few audio logs that go unused. Some have been unearthed as working audio files, whilst some, like DJ Veteran Child's, have subtitles but no known audio.

Text Only Audio Logs

Asha

Only one of Asha's audio logs go entirely unused. Rather than being a standalone audio log, it is an alternate to Asha Audio Log 197 albeit with a pretty tiny change.

Unused Text Description
From an early age, my father instilled a pride and patriotism in me that carried me far in life. I dedicated myself to serving the Crown. I don't regret it, though it's not been without its challenges. One of those challenges was working with the Saints in taking down Osama bin Laden. Alternate, yet unused audio log text of Asha talking about taking down Osama Bin Laden with the Saints. The Saints Row Wiki states that this would have been instead of taking down Cyrus Temple in the prologue mission Zero Saints Thirty.

Dane Vogel

A supervillain in a pressed suit, Dane Vogel, Head of Special Projects at Ultor, has audio logs in Saints Row IV that go unused. He later made his re-appearance in the standalone expansion to Saints Row IV, Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell.

Text Description
The gentrification of Saints Row was only the beginning. Ultor's plans for Stilwater were right on track for making the city a bustling metropolis safe enough to raise a family in. Gang violence was present, but the arrival of the Saints was the final cog in the wheel of progress. Get the Saints to wipe out the other gangs, then get the police to lock up the Saints. The plan looked perfect on paper. Unused audio log texts of Dane Vogel discussing his plan that featured in Saints Row (2006).
With the gangs dropping left and right, the next part of Ultor's plan was focused on Shivington. The investors were all lining up, but the board wasn't convinced we could handle the Saints. With the police on our side I figured Bradshaw could handle his end of the deal, but I was wrong. Ultor had to step in, though that was a miscalculation on my part. Our security force was not as... effective as I'd hoped. Unused audio log texts of Dane Vogel discussing his plan that featured in Saints Row (2006).
Sure what happened at the Pyramid was a small setback, but you'd think it was Armageddon according to the board. Getting the Saints to expedite my promotion by removing them all was genius on my part. Granted I didn't expect to be attacked at my press conference. All I'm saying is if the Saints came to me in good faith to negotiate, I'm sure we could've reached a mutually beneficial arrangement. They just didn't understand good business. Unused audio log text of Dane Vogel discussing the events that occurred in the Saints Row 2 mission 'Pyramid Scheme'.

Veteran Child

Despite being a major character in Shaundi's story in both Saints Row 2, Saints Row IV, and showing up as a Homie in the latter game, DJ Veteran Child has no used audio logs available to collect in the game. Whilst not having audio, his logs still have subtitles, meaning they were probably cut pretty early on in development.

Text Description
All I wanted in life was to be a famous DJ, smoke whatever I could find, and get a whole lot of pussy. And frankly, things were working out pretty damn well. Not only did I have the money from my radio show, but a ton of extra cash from dealing in loa dust with the Sons of Samedi. Granted, looking back on things, that last part I probably could've lived without. Unused audio log text of DJ Veteran child talking about his life as a Lieutenant for the Sons of Samedi in Saints Row 2.
That Mr. Sunshine was a crazy fucker. Seriously, he gave me nightmares even when I wasn't stoned outta my mind. And The General, he wasn't much better. Once you get in with the Sons of Samedi there's no getting out, and there's no room for screwing up. Hell, I thought I was a dead man when they found me in that record store. And that was Shaundi's fault. Unused audio log text of DJ Veteran Child discussing the events of Saints Row 2 in the mission 'Airborne Assault'.
I knew where Shaundi was, so that part was easy. She was alone, so again, easy. But that damn boss of the Saints fucked everything up. Things were so much better when the Saints were just a Stilwater memory, but they couldn't stay dead, could they. Never thought they'd come after Shaundi in my own club. That bitch made me lose everything. Unused audio log text of DJ Veteran Child discussing the events of Saints Row 2, in the mission 'Veteran Child'.

Audio Logs with sound intact

Donnie

Donnie, despite being a character that shows up in Saints Row IVs DLC Enter the Dominatrix, has no audio logs in the game that are used. This would have probably been cut alongside his addition as a Homie.

Filename Audio Dialogue Description
Donnie Audio Log 220
I don't care what Sharp said. What Lin and I had was real. Sure, she was with the Saints, feeding them information. But I didn't care. She didn't deserve to be shot and drowned in the river. I should have saved her. Why didn't I save her?!? Price may have been my best friend, but in the end he let it happen. An Unused audio log of Donnie describing the death of Lin in Saints Row (2006).
Donnie Audio Log 061
I should've known as soon as I saw the boss walk in to see Maero how the story was going to end. The Brotherhood took me in, and just like the Rollerz I ended up betraying them. I was forced to do it, but I didn't try to stop it either... Lin was a Saint. Deep down, I guess maybe I was too. An unused audio log of Donnie talking about the events of both Saints Row (2006) and Saints Row 2.
Donnie Audio Log 327
Then came Zinyak. He snatched me from right out of my garage, thinking I knew how to stop the Saints. He should've done a bit more research first, but I guess he was too busy trying to conquer Earth. I got myself out of the Domination Matrix only to find I was trapped on his damn ship. At least now I have the boss here to help me. I think we have a real shot at making it home. An unused audio log of Donnie describing his capture by Zinyak and subsequent rescue by the Saints in Saints Row IV.

Lin

Alongside Donnie and DJ Veteran Child, all of Lin's audio logs were cut.

Filename Audio Dialogue Description
Lin Audio Log 087
Putting me in the Rollerz was a smart move on Julius's part. We needed the intel, and I was the only tuner in the Saints. I knew when we staged that rescue at Donnie's shop I was in. Price owed me one for saving his best friend and didn't doubt me for a second. I probably should've been more careful about how often I passed the boss information, though... An Unused audio log of Lin discussing her undercover role in the Westside Rollerz and subsequent death in Saints Row (2006).
Lin Audio Log 282
I read Sharp wrong from the jump. I always knew he was coldhearted, but I just thought it was a lawyer thing. I didn't realize how sadistic he was. I'll never forget what he said to me: "I think it's time to unwrap you." I hope that bastard burns. Lin discussing her opinion on William Sharp, one half of the Westside Rollerz, and the man who took her hostage and subsequently murdered her in Saints Row (2006). Goes unused.
Lin Audio Log 199
Donnie said I was his girl? Can you believe that? I mean, we were pretty close, but that never came up. We talked about engines, weight distribution, suspensions... But his girl? I never expected that. It was a nice surprise. An unused Audio Log of Lin talking about her relationship with Donnie in Saints Row (2006).

Viola DeWynter

Viola Dewynter, one half of the Morningstar lieutenants along with her twin sister Kiki, has no collectible audio logs in Saints Row IV. Her audio logs openly talk about the events of Saints Row: The Third.

Filename Audio Dialogue Description
Viola Audio Log 422
Phillipe Loren was the first man to treat Kiki and I with respect. To him we were businesswomen, not a fetish. We were his right hand in the Syndicate and he was our mentor. His death meant we had to step up on our own. Too bad we never got the chance. Viola discussing Phillipe Loren, Leader of The Morningstar/one third of The Syndicate, and his subsequent death in Saints Row: The Third. Goes unused.
Viola Audio Log 224
Fucking Murderbrawl tickets. That's what Killbane thought would make me feel better after he murdered Kiki. He took the Syndicate from us, then he took my sister! I vowed to get revenge no matter what I had to do, and no matter who I had to ask for help. An unused Audio Log of Viola Dewynter mentioning the events of Saints Row: The Third, including her sister Kiki's death and her own move to the Saints.
Viola Audio Log 374
I knew the Saints wouldn't believe me when I came to them for help. Oleg hated me for turning him into a science fair project, Zimos was still grumpy about the Pony Cart thing, Pierce never bothered to learn my name, and Shaundi was a vindictive bitch. It didn't matter though--the boss understood a thing or two about revenge. Viola discussing her opinions on the members of the Saints as they appeared in Saints Row: The Third. Goes unused.

William Sharp

Sharp, one Leader of the Westside Rollerz in Saints Row (2006) had both his Audio Logs and status as a Homie cut in Saints Row IV. He later shows up as a character in Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell, though only as a Storybook character. Now that's how you get demoted.

Filename Audio Dialogue Description
Sharp Audio Log 300
Joseph had a good thing going with the Westside Rollerz in Stilwater. Every dollar I invested into my nephew's gang saw excellent returns. Even the Vice Kings and Los Carnalles left us alone. That is, until the Saints showed up. It all started with that slut who infiltrated Joseph's people, Lin. Sharp's first unused audio log that has him discussing the appearance of the Saints in Saints Row (2006), the two other gangs that appear, and undercover Westside Rollerz member and Saint, Lin.
Sharp Audio Log 187
Donnie let himself get too close. He was Joseph's friend, but he valued his relationship with Lin too much to see what was right in front of his face. Lin brought everything down and Donnie let it happen. If he wasn't so close to my nephew, I would have put him in that trunk with her. Sharp sharing his opinions on both Donnie and Lin as they appeared in Saints Row (2006). Goes unused.
Sharp Audio Log 316
While I blame Lin for her part in what happened, I haven't forgotten the fact that she had help. It was that upstart from Saints Row who did the dirty work for her: raiding my house, killing my nephew and killing me. How could I have let it all happen? I told Joseph he had a traitor among his people too late. If I had only acted sooner, perhaps the Saints would have been wiped out instead. Post death audio log by Sharp, which oddly talks about his nephew's death despite the fact that it was Sharp who died first.

Unused Mission-Related Content

Zero Saints Thirty

Hmmm...
To do:
Upload the lines than just relaying info.

The opening mission of Saint's Row IV, Zero Saints Thirty, had a few story altering changes very late into development. Most notable is the cut antagonist of the mission, Osama Bin Laden. A lot of leftovers remain in the game's files. These include enemy file names, face and character textures, and complete voice lines. It's not known why these were cut.

Osama Bin Laden

Despite acting as the main antagonist/target for the opening mission of the game, Osama Bin Laden was cut very late into development. This was shown by his replacement, Saint's Row: The Third's Cyrus Temple appearing with not only an entirely different voice, but minimal lines (in comparison to Bin Laden at least), and a shoddily animated model with no lipsync or facial animations to boot. All of the Terrorist's character models in the opening mission are known as 'Al Qaeda Militia', and the checkpoint 'Kill Cyrus' is known as 'Kill Osama' internally.

Unused Osama Bin Laden Voice Lines

Hmmm...
To do:
Actually extract the audio.

As mentioned earlier in the article, Osama Bin Laden came with a lot of voice lines that were cut alongside the character's minor appearance. A video was made by youtube user Singa, compiling all of the unused voice clips, along with an image of Osama Bin Laden's cut model as supplied by BeautiDuwanger, and translated by discord user Heliosungum.

Unused text regarding Zero Saints Thirty

Hmmm...
To do:
What are the strings called?

A lot of subtitle text (with no audio to accompany it) goes unused within the opening mission.

Uncredited Text

  • I'd wager Osama bin Laden is using this compound as a stockpile for a sustained assault.
  • Osama bin Laden, you are wanted for crimes against humanity directly responsible for the deaths of--

Playa

  • I didn't know much about Asha Odekar before she helped us take down Osama bin Laden but, in the years since, I've come to know her as one of the best soldiers I've ever met. If I'm going to take down Zinyak, I want her in my crew.
  • But what's done is done. You can't stop this. You never could. You fail. That's what you do. That's why you got that shit assignment babysitting a gang of thugs as they hunted down bin Laden. - Unused text from the Case of Mr. X mission in Saint's Row IV.
  • Nolan North: Where do I start? Killed Bin Laden, became the President, cut the debt.. oh flew Air Force One!
  • Nolan North: Okay, maybe it's just me, but I'm kinda gettin' used to Matt. He DID help us out back with Bin Laden, and he's helping Kinzie out here. I don't know, maybe that whole MI6 training changed him. Then again, maybe I'm just glad he isn't trying to kill us anymore.
  • Playa female 1: Same ol' stuff: killed Bin Laden, became President, that sorta thing.
  • Playa female 1: Matt's really changed y'know. Joined MI6, helped us with Bin Laden... he can be a useful guy.
  • Playa Female 2: The usual shit. Killed Bin Laden, became President...
  • Playa Female 2: Matthew has turned his life around. He joined MI6, helped us with Bin Laden, and, you must admit, he is useful.
  • Playa Female 3: Uh, well, uh... I killed Bin Laden, got elected President. Uh, rolled back the national debt... Ooh, flew Air Force One.
  • Playa Female 3: Matt turned a new leaf after Steelport. Hooked up with MI6, helped us nail Bin Laden -- He's a useful guy.
  • Playa Male 1: Well, y'know. Killed Bin Laden, became the President of the United States. Rolled back the national debt.... Ooh, got to fly Air Force One.
  • Playa Male 1: Matt turned himself around after Steelport. He joined MI6, helped us with Bin Laden -- He's a useful guy.
  • Playa Male 2: Eh, y'know. Killed Bin Laden, became the President of the United States. Rolled back the national debt.... Ooh, got to fly Air Force One.
  • Playa Male 2: Matt changed after Steelport -- joined MI6, helped us with Bin Laden, and, y'know, he's useful.
  • Playa Male 3: Killed Bin Laden, got elected President, flew Air Force One... Pretty standard stuff.
  • Playa Male 3: Matt changed his ways after Steelport. He joined MI6, helped us kill Bin Laden, and, y'know, he's useful.

  • "Bin Laden could be anywhere so be alert."

Regional Differences

Japanese Version

All of the changes from Saints Row: The Third, such as the Penetrator are there.

Australian Version

  • Infamously, Shaundi's Loyality Mission was completely removed from that version due to the usage of Alien Drugs for positive gains. This initially resulted in the game temporarily being banned due to not passing the Australian Classification Board until the mission was completely removed. The moment the mission is unlocked, it's automatically marked as completed and you're awarded the benefits as if you'd completed it.
  • The Rectifier DLC is not available to purchase, along with the Rectifier Probe.
