So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
This game was stuffed away in a cardboard box and found 30 years later in a garage
This game was never completed and/or given a public release.
As a result of this, keep in mind that the developers might have used or deleted some of the content featured here, had the game actually been released.

Segapede was a Genesis game originally pitched in late 1993 by STI designer and artist Craig Stitt, initially as part of the Sonic universe but later becoming more of its own thing following complaints from Sega. The game spent 14 months in development and was renamed to "Astropede" later on, but was scrapped around mid-1994 due to the need to have staff on other projects.

A one-level demo build was released by Hidden Palace in November 2022. The game at this point reuses many of Craig's assets from earlier Genesis titles he worked on, most notably the tileset of Hidden Palace Zone.

Unused Graphics

Hmmm...
To do:
These were listed here, but without actual graphic rips:
  • "Zipp has a movement animation that has him nearly slanted toward the ground, presumably for a higher movement speed."
  • "Several rotation sprites for Zipp. They can be seen in action in this footage, albeit using an earlier sprite set."
  • "All pods have graphics for rolling and rotating, but each pod only uses a single still frame."

Unused Music Sequences

Within the ROM there are two sequences for music tracks that don't play in-game. They both appear to be unfinished as they end abruptly.
