Sonic Runners
Sonic Runners |

Developer: Sonic Team This game has unused areas. |
This game is defunct. Do note the game no longer works at all without modifications. This is most likely due to the game's servers being shut down. As a result, further official developments with the game are unlikely to happen. |
Sonic Runners was a runner game featuring Sonic, in which the goal was to dash through levels at blazing fast speeds and collect as many goodies as possible.
To do: A decompilation of the game has been released since the end of support. Cover any unused code and any oddities. |

Unused Stages
Silent Forest
This stage was believed to be an event stage that would appear in a later event. This stage has broken lightmaps and shares 3 event layouts.
Unused Tense Effects
The game internally calls time of day "TenseEffects". There is an unused variant of an night version of Easter Windy Hill but it has no water animations for the night version. There also is a night version of the stage Base Frozen Factory that was never seen by players.
Debug Mode
There is an debug mode you can now access in the decompiled version of 2.0.3. (Note: Some of the functionality was restored by the Sonic Runners Revival team and might not work on the decompiled version of the game)
--Game-- Allows you to select a Character and a companion using their IDs Allows the user to pick a stage
--Title-- Sends you to the Title Screen
--Achievement-- Allows you to reset or show achievements
--Notification-- We believe it was used to test Push Notifications, it doesn't do anything
--Event-- Doesn't do anything, we believe it was used to set events in the client side
--Facebook-- While it may have had some use as a way to test the Facebook integration, it currently doesn't do anything in the decomp release.
--Dev./migration Dev./user_move-- Broken, we believe it should trigger the in-game account migration calls
--LOCAL and DEVELOP buttons-- Server URLs, clicking this changes the target server
Unused Events
Sonic 2006 Gacha
This event was intended to be the sixth Gacha event for the game. The event itself is mostly complete apart from the featured companions, which just reuse the Fantasy Zone Gacha event's featured companion lineup.
Zomom Raid Event
To do: There are unique image resources for this event that were added in 2.0.0. Should they be added here? |
Event data suggests that this event would take place in Desert Ruins at Dusk. Important files for this event however mostly reuse the ones from the Zazz Raid Boss.
Collect Objects Variations
There are two other collect object event types in the game aside from GET_ANIMALS. They are GET_RING and RUN_DISTANCE. Both of these event types are fully functional and can be re-enabled if the server sends the proper data, but there are no assets in the game for either of these events.
Unused Companions
D-Fekt
At one point, D-Fekt from Sonic Boom was planned to appear in the game. However, there are no models or textures for this companion. All we have left of this unused companion is some language text data.
<Cell ID="name2033" String="D-Fekt" /> <Cell ID="grow_details2033" String="Every combo of the following length collects all Rings, Crystals and Animals on screen, and briefly doubles your Combo Bonus: [505050]{PARAM3}[ffffff] -> [0080ff]{PARAM1} [ffffff](Same Type: [505050]{PARAM4}[ffffff] -> [0080ff]{PARAM2}[ffffff])" /> <Cell ID="featured_footnote2033" String="A robot with a strong magnet, built by Dr. Eggman." />
Magic Lamp
For some reason, the reflection map of this companion holds a screenshot from the game Sonic and the Secret Rings.
