Regional Differences

I am pretty sure there are some differences between versions. In the European version Resetti will delete your save data if you reset your game 50 times. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvxE6R6NjmE Also Totaka's Song is played by K.K. Slider again and Kapp'n will hum it if you leave him for a while.--The Quirky Quark (talk) 00:44, 22 December 2013 (EST)

I'm pretty sure that video is spliced together. Robotortoise (talk) 07:43, 5 January 2014 (EST)
I checked and some people say it's true and some people say it's not. There is no solid proof of it happening and this seems to be the only video of it. --The Quirky Quark (talk) 07:09, 7 January 2014 (EST)

Msglist.txt and swear filter

So in MsgList.txt, there's a message called "sys_MESS/SYS_Test". Is this a test message, or a network test or something? I can't figure out how to look at the text. Also, can someone find the list of swear words for me? I want to see if there's anything unusual. Robotortoise (talk) 07:43, 5 January 2014 (EST)

Placeholders

The game has a ton of placeholder files in just about every model directory. For example, there are 85 entries in the Item/Acc folder for masks/accessories, most of which are copies of the hero mask or Wario nose items. There are 96 special NPC models, too, where all the copies are of Tortimer. Are they worth covering? --Peardian (talk) 01:25, 9 June 2014 (EDT)

Yeah, that'd be great! Well, you don't need to take a model render of them, just make sure to note them. Be sure to check their file size down to the byte. They could be slightly different from each other and the finished product. Robotortoise (talk) 01:45, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

Note in a bottle

Wasn't this a sprite in Wild World? If so, doesn't that mean they remodeled it? Robotortoise (talk) 01:45, 17 June 2015 (EDT)

How do you extract/view the contents of the game's .ARC files?

Hey, so I've been trying all afternoon to figure out how to browse the contents of the game's .arc files, but to no avail. I've Googled everything I can think of and none of the programs I've downloaded have worked. I know it must be possible because the early screenshots on the page say that they were extracted from Layout\Photo.arc and Layout\Map.arc. If anyone knows how to do it or where I can download a program to extract/view them, could you please let me know? Thanks. :) The Only Zac (talk) 16:34, 17 June 2016 (EDT)

Thank you! Even though it's throwing an error when I try to extract an .arc file, it's the closest I've gotten. Here's the error in case you're wondering.
//First I used the -l argument to list the files in the archive, and it worked fine.

N64/GameCube/iQue Sound Effect

In the BRSAR, there's one of the menu sound effects from Dobutsu no Mori and all of its ports and localizations. I've put a lot of time into City Folk almost since it came out and I've never heard it.
