Microscopic note!

Just because seeing it written this way made me actually go and look it up...

"Dai 1 wa" = 第1話 = Episode 1. I'm not sure what the proper parlance is in the BS-examining-community, but if it's not too horribly confusing, can I change the "Dai _ wa" to "Episode _" without totally messing things up? I know it's nitpicky, and if it's completely confusing to people who know their BS Zelda, I won't do it. --RahanAkero 00:14, 2 February 2012 (EST)

  • I used the Dai-x-wa naming scheme for the sake of convenience for when people need the ROM or somehting to look up material themselves - The current ROM dump is listed on No-Intro as "BS Zelda no Densetsu Dai-3-wa". While in a normal conversation I would probably use the "Episode x" terminology, I wanted to be certain that there'd be no ambiguous terminology in my own writing. In the end though, you're free to use whatever you suspect might make it easier to understand. --Kiddo 00:33, 2 February 2012 (EST)

Unused graphics

Moved from article

Shield Animation

There is an unused animation for the Magic Shield. (Kiddo can't find the blasted technical info. This is a thread where it was mentioned. Many current BS Zelda hacks activate the Magic Shield animation. --Kiddo 22:05, 31 January 2012 (EST))

Unused Graphical Effects

Unusued graphical effects of a mysterious nature are hidden exclusively in Map 2's graphical data, sandwiching the sprites for the female character.

Official name found

I suggest this article's name to be changed to the now official name "BS The Legend of Zelda", as confirmed by Hyrule Historia, pg. 237. --Mariofan5000 (talk) 09:05, 28 November 2013 (EST)

But it wasn't released in an english speaking country, was it? --Hiccup (talk) 11:52, 28 November 2013 (EST)
Not the game, but the book was, and it confirms the name as official, so... --Mariofan5000 (talk) 06:31, 29 November 2013 (EST)
Hi there, I translated Hyrule Historia and localized the names of the BS games for what I believe is the first time they've appeared in an official capacity in English. I chose BS The Legend of Zelda over BS Legend of Zelda because Zeruda no Densetsu is officially localized as The Legend of Zelda. Therefore, it follows that BS Zeruda no Densetsu should be localized as BS The Legend of Zelda. For the purposes of the wiki, however, I don't think the inclusion or exclusion of the word "the" makes a huge difference. It won't stop people from finding the page, so I don't feel it's hugely important to amend it. --GlitterBerri (talk) 06:48, 29 November 2013 (EST)
...Um, I don't think that was the point. I'm pretty sure he was suggesting the page be moved from "BS Zelda no Densetsu" to "BS The Legend of Zelda", according to what the Hyrule Historia book says.
Since it was only released in Japan, however, based on the Animal Forest naming conventions, we can make a redirect, but we won't move the page. --AquaBat (talk) 09:23, 29 November 2013 (EST)

Test level in the recent "Gigaleak" of 2020

I noticed a few files labeled test and things inside the folder for "BSZELDA", this folder has many backups of other files, and are of the following.

  • LVL9-test.COL
  • TEST.CGX

I don't know what the .COL file would be as I cannot view that file at all, but did look at the other file to see sprites for the playable character, items, enemies, and some other things, and seems to be a clone of this other CGX file that has simaler contents in it. I heard people have been compiling these versions of the games from the source code such as Yoshi's Island. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Teh supar hackr (talkcontribs) 08:30, 25 July 2020‎ (EDT)

.COL files are just CGRAM dumps, 5-bits color information. It's size is 0x200 bytes. .CGX are standard SNES graphics files, you need to determine by yourself if they're 2bpp, 4bpp, 8bpp or mode 7 graphics (8bpp). You can open these with YY-CHR(dot)NET or open them in the CGX viewer often found bundled with the Gigaleak Files.--Tailikku (talk) 21:39, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Alleged Link Sprites

So a bunch of BS Zelda related resources claim that, within the Gigaleak, there are proper sprites of Link that were made before they decided to swap in the BS avatar characters. (Such evidence can be seen here: http://bszelda.zeldalegends.net/bs1pix.shtml)

The one thing that all sources fail to disclose is the exact filename and path within the Gigaleak these sprites exist, because this should obviously be documented here on TCRF. I have combed through all the BS Zelda-related assets I could identify in the Gigaleak and have yet to come across these sprites, so I cannot prove the authenticity of these assets.

Anyone mind pointing me in the right direction, please? --Don't try pressing it, now. Techokami (talk) 05:01, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Okay, after doing some digging, apparently these files are in the last place anyone would expect to look: within the Animal Forest source files?! In particular, within the directory "tarball" is an archive named "usr_local_srd.tar.gz", which contains the files inside "/srd/sample". Huh! Well that means these sprites are legit. They really should be documented on here, though. Start a prerelease page, perhaps? --Don't try pressing it, now. Techokami (talk) 05:58, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
The page has been started with the sprites of Link in question.--Tailikku (talk) 01:42, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
