Balloon Fight GB

Would it be worth making a whole new page for Balloon Fight GB, which is essentially a port of this game? As far as I could tell, the game has the same unused graphics, though it interestingly has the entire Balloon Kid title intact, although it isn't used. --Bluestone (talk) 22:46, 7 January 2016 (EST)

Free Control of Staff Credits

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.

Taking free control of the Staff Credits (which normally locks controls and takes Alice and Jim on a set path) is possible by changing memory address D100 (Alice's actor) to an actor which will cause her to lose a life, and for Jim to go away, such as 02. This can be reset back to 01 (Alice, flying) later although graphics may still be glitchy and music may not restart. However, the game will still freeze after the Balloon Bird appears, which plays its usual sound effects (as do the crabs). Perhaps it is possible to explore further with an additional code?

However, as the index number of this stage is 02 (memory address DE13); it's likely just the normal Stage 3 (Sea A) with some special scripting. Note during the cutscene directly before this where Jim drops down from balloons, the internal stage index number is 0E; corresponding to a Stage 15; so technically this cutscene is not part of Stage 8/the Secret Base. There are various other 'false' Stages like this in the game (Stages 9 through to 14); namely for Vs. Stage stages (08-0B), Balloon Trip mode (0C), and Bonus Rooms (0D).

Alternative Jim Cutscene Layout

Hmmm...
To do:
Rip the tower without corrupted tiles/show the layout without corruption if possible

This corrupted layout (for internal Stage 0E) can also appear if Alice somehow loses a life and respawns during the cutscene where Jim drops from balloons. Getting here by completing Stage 8 and then changing her to actor 0x01 (through D100 again) should work. It includes graphics for some kind of transmission tower (maybe it's meant to be outside of the Secret Base) not seen elsewhere. The 'spring block' on the right, or the bottom portion of the floating platforms will cause Alice to lose a balloon if she touches it, as will various invisible traps if she flies too high in the air as to fly over the tower. The 'water' at the bottom actually acts like solid ground, while humorously it is possible for her to fall through what appears as solid ground on the left edge of the screen. Sometimes Alice will sporadically disappear, locking up the game. If Alice loses a life again, the credits may roll as if she never lost a life during the cutscene.
