Talk:Doom II: Hell on Earth (PC)

Hi someone convinced me to make an edit about this but I'm still not too sure about the validity of it, but it's about DMENUPIC.
I can't quite find my original source on this anymore, but apparently it was for the original Xbox and X360 versions of Doom II, which included this image in the game files (outside of the WAD.) This image would be drawn first, followed by the game engine. The reason being that even though Doom ran in a 4:3 space in the middle of the screen, the image was 16:9, and would fill up the entire screen space for a 16:9 TV (or what have you.) The actual DMENUPIC which can be found in the wad would be used for the game's Title screen, which would line up nicely with this 16:9 "border" when you were in the menu.
This is the one discussion about DMENUPIC in the BFG edition WADs I can find, and they kind of say the same. (Check the next page.)
If someone feels that's evidence enough, feel free to add it.

NSFL Tag
Does this page really justify having the NSFL tag on it, considering what that tag was even created for? -TheKins (talk) 07:33, 12 March 2019 (EDT)
Unofficial Releases
What about Hell To Pay and Perdition's Gate? They were made by the same guys who did TNT, should we document them in another page? Fuck Milk -Maggie 18:52, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
- I don't know much about Hell To Pay, but it does seem very unofficial as id Software or its other associated or partnering companies didn't take the WAD. I did hear about Perdition's Gate, however as Tom Mustaine took it to Shawn Green for Final Doom, but he said that the "Final Doom window of opportunity had closed," so Wraith Corporation (the developers of PG) took the WAD instead which also marks it unofficial. Now, I do want to say that a few more expansions could be talked about too, such as the Master Levels and No Rest for the Living. NRFTL was made by Nerve Software and was released on the Xbox Live Arcade version of Doom 2, Doom 3 BFG Edition, Doom Classic Complete, and hosted in the add-ons section for Bethesda's Unity source ports for Doom 1 and 2. The Master Levels were also an official expansion, but was fan-driven similar to TNT: Evilution and Plutonia, but still published by id Software. If unused content is found within NRFTL and TML, then sub-pages should be made within the Doom 2 page, but if a bunch of content is found within any of those expansions, then dedicate a page to either or if applicable. --INFAMOUS (Talk) 08:53, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
Inaccessible Room
I don't think this should be documented here, it clearly was not a room the player was meant to visit that was subsequently cut, but instead it was a room to house monsters before they got teleported. Many other maps have similar rooms. Tamamo-no-Bae (talk) 20:59, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Would concur, these "monster closets" are elsewhere with varying sizes housing one or more enemies. E1M9 from Doom comes to mind with the star room having a room around it housing some monsters which start to walk to the trigger to teleport out when you touch the star area of the floor or something. --PSXDRIVERPLAYER OUT.
