The Lion King 1½ is a platformer based on the movie of the same name. So in other words, there's a distinct lack of actual lions in this game, since the focus is on Timon and Pumbaa.

Regional Differences

The European version has a logo for THQ in place of the color bars during the intro.

Although the movie was renamed The Lion King 3: Hakuna Matata outside of the US, the European release of the game, rather than adding a 3 in place of the 1½, just left out that subtitle entirely. And since that release also added Simba on the front cover of the game, this makes for a rather misleading title. The title graphic itself was also slightly compressed.

The thumbnail for the options screen in the US version erroneously uses a smaller version of the title; It was replaced in the European games with a proper thumbnail of the options screen (albeit with unused text that doesn't match with to any of the available languages). In addition to this, the film roll was moved over and the level title box was made larger. The top box containing the character lives was also slightly modified.

The credits for the European version also omit one name at the end of the credits roll, likely because the space is used to load other languages.
