Regional Differences

Hmmm...
To do:
The characters spill green blood in the Japanese version.

Opening

Japan International

This once great and opulent
nation,is now in the midst
of a terrible crisis.
Banglar, the tyrant, having
become the ruler of this
nation, used his powerful
army to oppress the
population.
Having been brainwashed, the
people had lost their power
to think for themselves.
The society was in ruins,
and what was once a great
economic power lie in
darkness.

However, there was a ray of
light left.
A small but powerful
underground opposition force
led by Mulk was mounting a
great campaign to overthrow
Banglar and restore light to
the nation.

Banglar was to be
assassinated by using the
force of three androids.
An android strong enough to
crush Banglar's armed forces
would take a long time to
develop, and by the time the
testing stage had been
reached, time had run out.
Banglar gathered his forces
to crushs the resistance.
Here and there, the
resistance force was quickly
and severely defeated.
The resistance force was no
match for Banglar's
overwhelming force.
With no time left, the
untested androids had to be
used.
"Your mission is to
overthrow the despotic
regime and assassinate
Banglar."

With this,the final battle
had begun.

This once great and wealthy
nation lay in the midst of a
terrible crisis.

The tyrant, Banglar, used
his forces to strike fear
and terror into the people.
Once brainwashed, they lost
the power to think for
themselves.

The society was ruined. What
was once a great economic
power lay in darkness.

However, a single ray of
hope remained. A small,
powerful band of underground
revolutionaries, led by the
famous "Mulk", launched a
great campaign to overthrow
Banglar and restore freedom
to the nation.

Banglar would be deposed by
employing a unique squad of
three androids. Creating a
technology powerful enough
to defeat Banglar's forces
took time to develop.

Just as the testing stage
was reached, the tide
turned against Mulk and his
brave followers.

Banglar unleashed his troops
to crush the resistance once
and for all. The attack was
swift and sudden.

Only one option was left:
The untested androids had to
be used.

"Your mission is to
overthrow the regime and
depose Banglar."

With this order, the final
battle began.

The scrolling opening text that's written in English on all versions was rewritten for the western releases to fix some typos and odd word choices, as well as remove any overt references to assassination.

Ending

Japan International

Banglar was defeated by the
three androids.
It was a victory for the
opposition force.

A few months later Mulk
became the new president and
created a fresh government.

Since the circuitry for the
Androids to think properly
for themselves had not yet
been developed, the androids
were programmed to self
destruct to avoid any danger.

The development of the
androids progressed, and
these powerful weapons of
Mulk's new government became
far stronger than Banglar's
old forces.

The people seeing this said,
"History repeats itself."

Banglar was defeated by
the three androids.

It was a great victory for
the opposition forces.

Several months later, Mulk
became the new president.
A new government replaced
the old regime.

The circuitry which allowed
the androids to think for
themselves was not yet
fully developed. They were
programmed to self-destruct
to avoid any danger.

The development of the
androids progressed under
Mulk's government. These
powerful weapons became
far stronger than Banglar's
old forces.

And the people, realizing
this, said...
"Some things never change."

Like the opening, the ending's English text was smoothed over a little for the western releases.

Female Ninjas

NinjaWarriosAgain FemaleNinjaEnemy.png

The Japanese version features female ninja enemies known as Kunoichi. They were removed in the international versions, with all of their appearances replaced by Monkies (the small ninjas with claws).

Anti-Piracy

At various points, the game will attempt to write to SRAM, which doesn't exist on a genuine cartridge. If the writes succeed, various things happen to make the game more difficult:

  • The level select code mentioned above doesn't work.
  • Health pickups don't actually do anything.
  • Health doesn't automatically refill to max after completing each stage.
  • Dying immediately sends you back to the intro instead of allowing you to continue.
