Wayne's World (Game Boy)
Wayne's World |

Developer: Radical Entertainment

Despite sharing the same development studio, the Game Boy version of Wayne's World has completely different level designs, despite using the assets from the NES game. Also, it has a pretty good chiptune version of Bohemian Rhapsody, even better than the SNES version.
Contents
Unused Text
Several bits of unused text intended for various points in the game. Included with each are the addresses where they are stored. They appear to be copied from the NES version.
0x2D9ED - Was to be used after the first part of stage 1. Also used in the NES version.
THIS IS SURE WEIRD. I SEEM TO BE SO SMALL. IS THIS A DREAM? I LOOK LIKE A VIDEO GAME CHARACTER. EXCELLENT. TOP TEN THINGS GARTH'S DAD BEEV SAYS: 10) HEY YOU KIDS, BUY SOMETHING OR LEAVE. 9) ARE YOU GONNA BUY THAT MAGAZINE? THIS ISN'T A LIBRARY. 8) EITHER YOU EMPTY OUT YOUR POCKETS OR YOU ARE BANNED FROM THE STORE. 7) SHOULDN'T YOU KIDS BE IN CLASS? 6) EAT YOUR JUNK FOOD OUTSIDE OF THE STORE. 5) ARE YOU GONNA BUY THAT MAGAZINE? THIS ISN'T A LIBRARY. 4) WAYNE'S THE COOLEST GUY IN THE WORLD. 3) ALL THE CHICKS DIG WAYNE BIG TIME. 2) I WISH I COULD BE AS COOL AS WAYNE. 1) HI, MY NAME IS BEEV. I'M A BIG DWEEB.
0x2DD2F - To be used if running into Stacy on the Gasworks roof. Stacy does not appear in this version, but graphics for her still remain in the game. Once again, from the NES version.
A GUN RACK? SHYEAH, RIGHT. I DON'T EVEN OWN A GUN, LET ALONE MANY GUNS THAT WOULD NECESSITATE HAVING AN ENTIRE RACK. ARE YOU MENTAL? GET THE NET! WE BROKE UP!
The preceding dialogues are versions of those that were used in the NES version. The rest are unused entirely:
0x2DF18 - For after finding Cassandra in stage 2.
I AM ABOUT TO ENTER A DREAM THAT RELATES TO THE PLIGHT OF ALL YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN CHASING AFTER THE THINGS THAT THEY WANT IN LIFE BUT AS YET DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CATCH THEM! SHE WILL BE MINE. OH YES. SHE WILL BE MINE.
0x2E0B9 - Likely to have been part of the dialogue preceding stage 2.
HEY GARTH, LET'S GO GO TO GASWORKS, THE TOTALLY EXCELLENT HEAVY METAL BAR I HEAR THAT AN AWESOME BAND IS PLAYING TONIGHT.
0x2E270 - Dialogue for an unused ending scene. The final uses only alternating screens of Wayne with the player's final score and the credits.
EXCELLENT "MEGA- HAPPY" ENDING. WELL, THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE FOR OUR GAME. SO GOOD NIGHT AND PARTY ON. PARTY ON WAYNE. PARTY ON GARTH. HOW LONG DO WE HAVE TO STAY HERE? TILL THEY TURN OFF THE GAME BOY.
Pause Screen Cheats
Pause the game and enter: (RLUD=Right, Left, Up, Down; S=Select)
BARBARA - play the unused "fished in" cutscene
DUALDUAL - switch between Wayne and Garth
BADSALAD - player can't die by timeout or having no health
BRASSBAR - an unused level that uses a Mode 7 like effect for its background
SADUSSR - allows you to fly through levels
BALLS - next level (press and hold B then A, then press L, L, S)
BALLLS - any level (press and hold B then A, then press L, L, L, S) then release everything, then press one of R,L,U,D,A,B,S to go to level 1 through 7
ABSURD - four lives, 200 seconds on the timer and max HP of 20.
DRBALLARD - input on the stage 2 boss (the stack of discs) to instantly kill it.
BARDSBARDS - disable background music.
BLABLABLA - a black screen with a sample of Wayne saying "NO WAY" looping infinitely.
ALLRUBBARS - partially disables the handling of level objects and enemy AI, Garth cannot fire projectiles either. Very glitchy, making some levels unbeatable.
USUALBASDARDS - raises a flag which is usually used when a donut is picked up, and erased if another is picked up. Mostly useless, outside of unlocking a secret area (see below).
Hidden Images
To see the programmer while playing, hold Start, then press A, B, A, Down, Left, A, Down (ABADLAD).
To see the programmer's friend while playing, hold Start, then press Right, A, Down, A, Right, B, Right, A (RADARBRA).
To see the programmer's girlfriend while playing, hold Start, then press Select, A, Left, A, Down, Left, A, Select, Select (SALADLASS).
Hidden Areas
Level 2
Use the platforms at the start to reach the upper level and keep going right until you see an amplifier with an "E" item on it. Do not pick it up, and jump on top of the amplifier. Pause the game and enter Up, Select, Up, A, Left, B, A, Select, Down, A, Right, Down, Select and you should hear a sound. Make sure the "E" icon is visible on the HUD and now you can pick up the item. Make your way to the boss, but don't defeat it. Instead knock off enough discs so you can jump over it and you'll find a secret area has opened up behind the boss.
Donut Shop
In the Donut Shop bonus stage following Level 2, collect all but three of the donuts which are on the circular coffee tables. If done correctly, you'll fall through the floor and into a secret tunnel with a variety of items. Walking to the right of the tunnel will end the level.
Level 9
If you look carefully, you can see manholes on the ground in this level. Jump on the first one seven times to fall through, go to the left and pick up the one donut and make your way back up. Continue the level normally, until you find the last manhole just before the level exit. Jump on it and you'll fall on top of a crate, drop down from it and stand "inside" the crate, pause the game and enter Down, Up, A, Left, Down, Up, A, Left. This opens up a secret garage area to the right, with unique tiles not seen elsewhere in the game. Using the free movement cheat you reach another car that cannot otherwise be seen.
But that's not all! While here, entering any of the following cheats will display a secret screen and take you to the next level. Johan and Evie can be seen in the above secret pictures, so it's fair to assume the other two are also friends of the programmer.
- Left, A, Right, Down, A, Select, Select (LARDASS)
- B, Left, A, B, Left, A, B, Left, A (BLABLABLA)
- Down, A, Left, Left, A, Select (DALLAS)
Unreachable Items
In level 9 there are barely visible manholes that you can break through by jumping on them repeatedly, leading you to a lower part of the stage containing various items. However, there is one part of the lower area that contains some extra lives but is blocked off on both sides and there is no manhole above it, making it impossible to reach without the use of the Fly cheat mentioned above, since it allows you to go through the walls in your way.
