This is a sub-page of Castlevania (Nintendo 64).

Hmmm...
To do:
Figure out which version specifically fixed the Camilla crash glitch and put it here.

Five versions of Castlevania 64 are known to exist: USA v1.0, USA v1.1 (aka Rev 0A), USA v1.2 (aka Rev 0B), Japanese and European.

Changes between USA v1.0 and v1.1

Text

USA v1.0 USA v1.1
A vase of
 beautiful roses...
A vase of
beautiful roses...

This message appears in the mirror room of the Villa mansion, when checking the flowers placed in front of it. A space was removed before the newline in v1.1.

USA v1.0 USA v1.1
A vase of
  beautiful paintings...
beautiful paintings...

This message appears in the Vincent room of the Villa mansion, when checking some of the paintings in the wall. In v1.0, the "A vase of beautiful roses..." was copied and pasted, but replacing "roses" with "paintings". This doesn't make sense, as paintings are hanging in the wall and not inside a vase, so the message was shortened in v1.1 to "beautiful paintings...".

Hmmm...
To do:
Find out which screen exactly displays this text.
USA v1.0 USA v1.1
Insufficient enpty notes. Please press any botton.
Not enough free pages on Controller Pak.Please press any Button.

An error message indicating that not enough space was available in the Controller Pak to save the game contained various misspellings, so it was rewritten in v1.1. This and various other screens also rewrote the word "Button" as "BUTTON".

USA v1.0 USA v1.1
Controller1 not connected
Please turn the power off
and attach Controller.
Controller 1 not connected
Please turn the power off
and attach Controller.

When booting the game without a controller connected in the first slot, the game will display this message. In v1.1, a space was added between "Controller" and "1".

Changes between USA v1.1 and v1.2

Text

USA v1.1 USA v1.2

The Storeroom key

This message appears when using the Storeroom's key in the Villa mansion. A typo was corrected in v1.2.

Glitches

Going through the floor in Tower of Science

In versions USA v1.0, USA v1.1 and JPN, the player can walk under the floor and fall to the abyss in this spot in Tower of Science, by walking slowly in the edge of the conveyor belt.

In versions USA v1.2 and EUR, this was prevented by adding an instance of actor 0x016B in that spot, which makes it so that the player dies by getting squashed if touching it (like when getting squashed in between the gears from Clock Tower).

Invisible Walls

There are some instances in the game where jumping in a slope could block the player's horizontal movement, even though they are moving forwards. This happens very frequently in the stairs leading to Dracula's keep, and can also happen in the stairs inside the Villa's foyer.

This glitch was fixed in USA v1.2.

Changes in JPN

Saving

The Japanese version saves to the cartridge, while the international versions require a Controller Pak to save.

Vibration

The Japanese version adds Rumble Pak support.

Changes between JPN/EUR and USA

Glitches

Hmmm...
To do:
Which glitches?

Some sequence breaking glitches were patched out in the Japanese and European versions.

Audio

The Japanese and European versions feature voice acting for Gilles de Rais in the Castle Keep in the cutscenes when he's shown and defeated.

Changes in EUR

Gameplay

Reindhart and Carrie move slightly faster in the European version. This was likely done to compensate for the lower framerate.
