Devil May Cry 5 (Windows)/Unused UI Elements
This is a sub-page of Devil May Cry 5 (Windows).
Contents
Character Select Screen
There are three early portraits of the main playable characters that were to appear on the character select screen. These likely served as placeholders during development before the final renders were completed.
Mission Start UI
Two early UI textures can be found. One shows early assets for the mission start menu, and the other shows an test version of the Breaker Loadout menu using concept art of Nero. The style of the UI is reminiscent of the ones found in earlier entries in the series.
Tutorial Pop-Ups
A placeholder texture for the thumbnail images that appear with the tutorial pop-ups when first playing the game.
The text on each tile reads "Hint image thumbnail area"
Weapon UI
Placeholder textures can be found for both Nero's Devil Breakers and Dante's weapons. It is unknown if these were placeholders for gameplay or the shop UI.
Dante's UI text translates to "Rebellion", "Sparda", "Devil Sword Dante", "Hand-to-Hand Combat Armor" (this likely refers to Balrog), "Cerberus", "Emperor", "Ebony Ivory", "Coyote A", "Kalina Ann", "Double Kalina", and "Faust Hat".
Interestingly, Cavaliere is not listed on this texture, but instead listed is "Emperor".
Reports
The reports menu has temporary UI elements for the Nidhogg Hatchling, Nero's Devil Trigger, Dante's Devil Trigger and Sin Devil Trigger, and, most interestingly, Kyrie, suggesting that she was meant to make an appearance in the game outside of that of being a disembodied voice and pay phone. The early Devil Trigger assets also suggest that, rather than keeping the variations of each character under the base character slot like in the final game, the Devil Triggers were going to have their own character slots in the Character Reports menu.
Special Edition Leftovers
There are 4 assets left over that pertain to Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition and its development: UI graphics displaying ray tracing settings, and a temporary logo for Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition. The ray tracing graphics are self explanatory, but the logo is grouped with the logos from the previous games that appear in the Jukebox rather than any of the title screen graphics, meaning this logo was likely a placeholder for the Bury the Light battle track.
