This is a sub-page of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

A German demo of Pokémon Silver. Being a post-final demo, it is identical to the released game, only with the addition of some restrictions to the player's movement and abilities.

File: Pokémon Silver - German Demo.7z (info)

The German demo version was dumped from two separate dev carts. Additionally, the demo was later found in the 2020 Nintendo leaks at Gen2.7z/euro2.zip/MAKE/mons2_slv_ger_e3_ps3_010112.bin, save for the checksum at 0xD5 being all zeroes instead of A1 46 60.

Main Gameplay Differences

  • On the file selection screen, the continue option has been removed entirely.
  • All three starter Pokémon have had their evolution data removed.
  • On the trainer card screen, the option to view badges has been removed entirely.
  • The town map lets you cycle through its landmarks, but they all use the "Town Map" header. This also extends to the Kanto map.
  • Interestingly enough, if the player hacks in a Pokémon with Fly, then the map will show the town names as usual.

Demo Lockouts

Because this is a demo, there are some restrictions in place that can't be surpassed without the use of cheats:

Dark Cave Violet Gate

  • There are two Campers blocking the player from accessing Dark Cave and Violet City. When spoken to, both exclaim "Hier geht es leider nicht weiter.", which translates to "You can't go further, unfortunately."

Sprout Tower Ruins of Alph (North) Ruins of Alph (West)

  • Interestingly enough, if the player uses a walk-through-walls code to get to the Sprout Tower or the Ruins of Alph, Campers identical to the ones mentioned above can be found. This suggests that the demo might have originally been planned to go on a bit longer.
