Hmmm...
To do:
Replace scans of the magazines with better images along with including other behind-the-scenes info, the individual screenshots and translation of the articles. Oh, comparisons of both the characters and screenshots would be nice as well :)

The rockin' anime-infused series got it's start on the PlayStation but had some changes throughout development.

Early Development

Creative lead and series creator Daisuke Ishiwatari said that he conceived the concept for Guilty Gear during his time in vocational school, when he later joined Arc System Works he eventually would pitched this concept to company president Minoru Kidooka as to make their own answer to Street Fighter.

The following images are from a Japanese magazine called Dengeki PlayStati F discussing the game, notably, some of the characters have different designs and weapons as seen in the art.

Dengeki PlayStation F2

Dengeki PlayStation F (now with a 2) covers the game, this time with accompaning screenshots, like last time some have different designs and weapons compared to the final game. the screenshots themselves showcase the game with 3D models rendered against a 2D background, This got changed as Daisuke disliked how it looked.

Notably future entries in the series, such as Xrd and Strive would use this style of animation.
