Hmmm...
To do:
Document the Arcade Mode menus.

Each of the demos feature various changes to the game's menus and user interface.

Menu Sounds

All demo builds feature different sounds, with the July build using GT1 sounds and the August and Euro Demo builds using a completely different set of sounds. The Japanese Test Drive demo uses the exact same sound effect set as the retail version's, except one of its menu cancel sounds is a pitch higher. Additionally, some of the demos' menu sound effects contains crackles on them.

Since the demo discs are single disc, a title screen with layout resembling that of the first Gran Turismo is used. These can still be found in GT2.VOL/arcade in the final game.

Car and Manufacturer Logos

Starting from the OPSM #27/Music at the Speed of the Sound build, several logo changes were made to Arcade Mode-specific cars. On the manufacturer's end, Mazda had the logo added, while Plymouth replaced a panther with a boat.

Additionally, the Arcade Mode-specific car logos were also changed. This includes the Audi S4, which was removed from the Arcade Mode in the middle builds. There are also logos for Class S cars, despite none of them being accessible yet.

Gran Turismo Mode

Hmmm...
To do:
Document the secret "GRAN TURISUMO GALLELY".

The GT Mode is accessible in all demos, but unlike the demos for the previous game, the GT mode in all demo builds are barely functional dummies.

General

  • When you are selecting a menu option, a highlight effect appears on it. This effect was removed in the final GT Mode.

  • Chevrolet and Mazda received a completely different menu background for the final game. All other featured manufacturers have the background slightly adjusted instead.
  • Used car lineups were considered for non-Japanese makes; in the final, only Japanese ones (excluding Tommykaira) has used car listings. With the American manufacturers, this would have meant that the old muscle cars would get relegated there; it is unknown how it would fare with European ones.
  • There were no manufacturer biographies on these screens, and the button designs are different.
